Loctite 263 is actually primerless on most metals. This is an automotive aftermarket package, and there is a Klean 'n' Primer product sold that is usually suggested for all anaerobic products. Yes, Loctite 263 threadlocker has a limited shelf life of 730 days from the date of manufacture. This means that it is important to check the expiration date on the product before using it. If the product is expired, it may not perform as expected.

Q: Approximately how many 1/4" studs can be set with the 6m tube?

For small threads, we typically recommend applying 1 big drop (or 2 drops small/medium drop max) to the male threads at the engaging area, vs the female thread in the hole in a blind. The idea is to ensure a good coverage in the engaging/mating area of the nut and bolt. For 1/4" bolt, I estimate 200 bolts with a 6ml tube, of a manual application from the bottle.
