HTC One M8 car DOCK
The one thing that this DOCK does not accentuate is the fact that it is a DOCK, not just a phone holder. To say that it is a car cradle (with charger) (sic) is like Zuck saying that he can cover the dinner tab for 4 at Olive Garden when describing how much money he has. What this device actually is, is a DOCK. You ask "What is a DOCK" ?. A DOCK is a device, in the electronic world, that CONNECTS something portable (Phones for example) to something stationary, like this dock. When you simply slide yout HTC 1 M8 into this device, the following occurs:1. It is "Held" into place2. The power connector on the phone connects to the micro USB connector at the left side of the DOCK. (No picture on line shows this)3. If you have the other end of the cable that this micro USB connector is attached to plugged into a live cigarette lighter, then the phone stays on, powered up, display on, not dark or blank, forever!4. The phone goes into car DOCK mode. (you can exit this mode if you like)The window attachment is very tight, no falling off or wiggling around. When you are running errands, getting in and out of your car 14 million times during the day, this makes docking, undocking very easy.Is there anything that you can go out and purchase that does ANY of the 4 items listed above???NNNNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO there isn't.What more needs to be said!!HEY Samsung, this is why I did not buy your phone, NO DOCKS for your phones!!!!!!

Decent, I guess...
The suction cup is strong, the arm is relatively easy to move and holds in place after you position it, and it's relatively easy to get the phone in and out with one hand (sometimes the charger needs to be angled slightly to allow the phone to fully dock - a single finger's pressure is enough). The big disappointment is that absolutely no thought was given to allowing space for hooking up the headphone jack. It is hidden away inside the dock housing and inaccessible. Pretty crappy idea from a first-party dock, if you ask me. And I'm sad that I didn't realize it before purchasing. The M8 does have great speakers -- better than any other phone I've ever had -- but it still can't really compete with road noise the way the speakers in your car can. Even with the windows closed and the volume all the way up, I find there are still some moments during podcasts that I can't hear what's being said.I'm going to try to get someone with a Dremmel to help me cut out a hole, because I really want to use the AUX input in my stereo. If it weren't for that, this dock would get 5 stars from me.

Good docking cradle for the HTC One M8
This docking cradle was used for my HTC One M8 in my car. With my particular dash setup, the suction base was not terribly practical, so I removed the dock portion and modified it to mount where I needed it. When smartphones are mounted in a car dock, particularly on top of the dash or to the windshield, they can overheat in the sun and do a thermal shutdown to protect them. Mounting the phone in front of the AC vents keeps the phone cool as it heats up from charging and syncing all your stuff, and keeps it from shutting down. This is a solid and good product, so definitely recommended.

Be aware it covers up the phone's audio output jack
Everything about this cradle is great (sturdy, elegant design, etc), but be aware that it covers up the phone's audio output jack. I ended up buying a bluetooth speaker adapter for for my car speakers after discovering this, since my car's system wasn't already BT compatible. Cost me an extra $40, but the silver lining is it's now one less cord to connect to my phone when I get in the car. HTC makes an adapter: Car StereoClip CAR A100/Bluetooth Audio Streamer (Aux)

Amazing Htc One M8 car dock
This is quite possibly the best design in car mounts ever invented! It holds the phone securely, no shaking while driving at all. The phone slides in with some tension and it does take two hands, so do it before you start driving. It automatically switches to car mode and the text messages are read out loud to you and you can speak your answers... Amazing!

Works well
Overall, it's a good product. I have to tilt the USB cord to plug the phone into the holder. It doesn't just slide into the holder, but as I said, it's still a good purchase.

Perfect
Take a minute to read the other reviews here before you purchase this. There are many tips on how to use it effectively. And all of the tips have been good ones.

Excellent mount, but unfortunately it blocks the headphone port
Excellent mount, but unfortunately it blocks the headphone port. Without access to that port, there is no way to listen to music unless you have a BT capable sound system. I thought I might be able to drill an access hole, but the power connector blocks it.

Great Car Dock - Had it for the M7, now the M8
Essentially this dock is the same as the M7 which I reviewed. As such I'm going to include the same content as I have both docks and can confirm all details are exactly the same.Packaging & Contents:Great packaging and just the right size for the product itself. In the box you get the Car Holder with suction mount, a separate disc with sticky pad so you can stick this to your dash/interior and can then use the suction mount against this if window mount is not feasible. A Car charger (for cigarette lighter) and USB cable which is specifically designed with clips so the to secure it to the mount. Lastly, a user guide with multi-language instructions detailing how to fit the carkit and operation.Products & Fitting:The main bulk of the car kit is a great quality plastic and looks very good. I like the fact that the suction section is twist-to-stick as opposed to most previous mounts I've had which have a tough clip to secure the suction which looks unsightly. This gives the mount a clean look with no unobtrusive parts. The overall size is 9.5cm from base of the suction section to the outside edge of the phone cradle. The phone holder is 7cm in width and 10cm in length, so when adding the phone in you'll need a space of about 12/13cm lengthwise. There are 2 ball joints with a connector rod about 2/3cm long. These parts are made from polished silver to give that expensive feel to it. One ball joint is in the suction section and the other on the rear of the phone cradle. This is to enable you to easily swivel the direction of the phone to pretty much any angle you wish... Out of all car kits I've had this is a great feature and much better than any previous clip/unclip angle finders which are far more limited than this ball joint mechanism. The joints are fairly stiff to manoeuvre, but easy enough that it won't cause any problems angling the phone to how you want it. This means that there should be no worries about the angle moving as you drive or hit bumps. In my opinion this is the perfect balance between stiffness & maneuverability. The Cigarette adapter isn't the smallest or cleanest I've seen with some protrusion out of the lighter unit by about 3cm, adding the extra from the USB cable end you have to allow for at least 6cm before you get to the flexible cable. It may have also been nice to have a dual USB output, but the single output is fine for my needs and the plastic top has a matt finish to it, while the main body is a shiny plastic. Other than that it is a standard USB sized output, so could be easily used for charging any other USB device. The supplied cable is around 180cm in length so you should have no problems reaching from the cigarette lighter to wherever you decide to place the mount. Excess cable is suggested to wrap around the silver arm, and there is a space in the suction removal pull tab to hook the cable into to keep it neat and tidy. One end is the standard larger USB and the other end comprises of the smaller micro-USB plug protruding from a small clip which allows this to be securely fitted to the phone cradle. As the plug is protruding, it is entirely feasible to use this for any device which uses the micro-USB connector as a charge port and does not limit you to only having this for the specific use intended.I have fitted mine to the car using the supplied place pad. Suction is really strong and you can move the angle with ease without any risk of it coming loose. One point to note is that if you turn the phone holder clockwise it can detach from the rest of the unit. I'm not sure of the reason for this, maybe so it can be used as a temporary phone case. However, I wouldn't suggest this be used as it's not as sturdy as official phone cases. I would like to see this section be offered as an additional accessory in case of breaking as it is just plastic.Usage with Phone:The phone slides snugly into the cradle, sometimes I've had to tweak the charging pin slightly to get it to connect. But it's not too much of an issue, and isn't too hard to accomplish. Once the phone is in situ it's easy to manipulate the phone to the right angle if you've knocked it out while inserting the phone. Bluetooth is automatically started, a connection to the handsfree made and the Car Home application loads (unless told not to from within the Car Home app settings).Options available from the Car Home Application Settings screen;'Auto launch' - Start app when my phone connects to my car dock'Auto play' - Resume Music or Radio after launching app (this will load your last played track or radio station)'Auto connect' - Auto connect to my Bluetooth devices (select which device you want the app to connect to by default)'Voice call accessory' - This allows you to switch in app to a different Bluetooth Device'Audio-out accessory' - Same as above, but for Audio out instead of call out'Beats Audio' - Select this to enable Beats Audio to be applied to your streamed music'Read out notification' - Announce incoming calls and new messages and allow voice command to react to them'Notification preview' - Announce caller ID and sender information for new calls and sender for new messages'Show disclaimer' - Show disclaimer every time I use this appBy default the main screen shows you large image of clock and weather - These are non-interactive so you cannot adjust any clock settings. There is a large button displayed to show you the 'last played/playing now' track and several buttons for sending you straight to Navigation, Dialer, Music, Speak, People, Settings, Exit and a '+' button to allow you to add a shortcut to any app you have in your drawer. I would have like the option to add widgets to the Car Home screen as you have multiple screens which you can easily swipe to.Other than that the buttons are clear and easy to access at a quick glance. It seems that HTC have really tried to provide several levels with this app and not just let the buttons take you to the relevant inbuilt application. i.e. when you press "Dialer" you get a dialer with larger buttons to make it easier while driving. Pressing Navigation takes you to a screen with multiple (large) buttons to either go straight to Google maps, Previous Destinations, Appointment locations, Gas stations, Restaurants etc. It even has the option to go by photo, using the location info from the photo's in your gallery (if available).Speak is interesting. It's quite clever in so much that when you press this button it simulates a call to itself so that you actually speak and hear with your handsfree for the voice commands rather than using the phone's inbuilt mic & speaker. One issue I've encountered is if the voice command fails sometimes the call remains active and you have to manually end it.Other than the few little issues the app is really good. Screen stays on while docked so you don't have to keep pressing the unlock button on the phone. The app works like a launcher so you cannot press the home button to exit it which is a little annoying if you want to access any other apps while the phone is docked, but I can see the reason for this.Handily when undocking the phone Bluetooth is disabled, so be careful if you're in a call on your handsfree and want to continue the conversation while in the car after stopping.Overall Opinion:This is a great quality accessory, build is exceptional which is what would be expected for an OEM product. Slightly dearer in cost than some multi-purpose carkits, but you get what you pay for with this. But if you're getting a One and want to extend that luxury feel to the car environment you certainly would not go wrong purchasing this product. Looks-wise it stands out from the crowd and should have the envy of everyone who sees it.Only negative is really to do with the charging adapter. I would have liked this to sit as flush as possible in the cigarette lighter unit as is possible with some other adapters. To this end I may purchase a smaller adapter to make things as neat as possible.

Excellent Product
Since there are pretty much only a few reviews for this product, I wanted to do a mini-review considering I would of wanted something like this before I made the plunge.Obviously for what it is it's expensive and thats the main debating point if you are looking to buy this. However, the product itself is excellent, the design looks very good compared to conventional car holders, it's very sturdy and the angling maneuverability is fantastic. The set up is simple. and the supplied charge cable clips into the cradle itself, and for me I've had NO issues with the cable being pushed out when the phone is inserted, or any issues with the connector feeling flimsy. I ready a few reviews where this was mentioned and as of now it seems pretty unfair to say, either that or my version is a more recent production with the issue fixed. The instant turn on for bluetooth and the HTC Car app are useful and I've noticed that the charging cable is clever enough to stop charging once the phone reaches 100% and just maintains that level.I feel that there is enough value in this product to justify the purchase, the phone slides perfectly into the cradle, it looks good, has good functionality and is very sturdy. The only downside is the cost which although is a tad expensive it is an official product and the £35 which I paid is substantially less than the £44 RRP on the HTC Site. Oh and you have to take your phone case off to put it in the cradle obviously, and if this 2 seconds of effort is something which might put you off this then you have been warned.4 Stars as the product is excellent, -1 Star for the price. (Still a good purchase)Will update should any issues arise.

Perfect
Very easy to fit and use, holds the phone securely at whatever angle you require. In the past I have usually used generic phone holders in the car, but this cradle fits so snugly and charges the phone, as well as automatically switching on bluetooth so I can receive phone calls without having to either leave bluetooth on all the time and drain the battery, or remember to switch it on each time I get in the car. While it seems rather expensive for what it is, it works perfectly and is just the right bit of kit for the purpose, which is worth a few quid extra in my book. I don't know if I've just been lucky so far, but it hasn't even fallen off the windscreen yet, as I have always found suction holders to do in the past, usually at the worst time or after a cold night - it is very cold at night at the moment and the cradle seems totally secure.

Perfect Fit
When I switched from my HTC One M7 to the M8, I missed the HTC Car Dock and bought a cheap mount - big mistake! The phone wobbled around to the point where it was unusable!! Ordered the D190 within a few weeks and it arrived a day later.Very good quality and solid item, fits the M8 like a glove, however please note that the phone only fits without a case. The mount is rock solid in use, even over bumpy roads!!The supplied USB cable is a little shorter than the M7 version, so may require some thought in routing. The adaptor for the car cigarette lighter socket has an HTC logo on it, which lights up when in use (although mine is under the seat!).The headphone ort is covered by the mount, a result of HTC deciding to move it from the top of the phone - I bought a Bluetooth receiver to replace the old jack to jack lead I had been using. If you have an M8, then you should have the D190 to mount it!

The best option for HTC One M8 and M8s
It's for the One M8, but it works fine with my One M8s version, this phone is a fraction thicker than the M8 but this is no problem at all, the suction pad is very good, holds very strong, it a very similar suction system as the TomTom holders which I have used for some time with great success, the moving joint works very easy while still being firm, I went for this after trying another 2 universal phone holders, in future I will always be looking if a manufacturer has their own version of car holder as my experiences are that that is by far the best option, sometimes a little more expensive, but way better than universal holders. It loses one star as it would have been nice if it was possible to change the phone holder part for a new phone in the future and not have to replace the whole unit.
