Perfect book for me
I am new to applique so I appreciate the basics. Still, I know how to sew and quilt so not a lot of time is wasted on pointing out the basics and tips which is 15 pages out of 160. I read each one and each one is helpful. Methods of preparing the applique took another 40 pages or so and has wonderfully clear close up diagrams of instructions and clear actual applique photos with each lesson easily explained and very precise. The next section is on embellishing your work followed by types of fabric. Pages 85 to 125 show different projects, each one with its own well written instructions. The remaining pages are of basic patterns you could put into any design of flowers and leaves. It has a very nice index.I feel as though this book could not be written more clearly for anyone who wants to learn the craft. The beautiful pictures are what makes it worth the money. The pages are of heavy stock so will not tear or get damaged easily. It has an index which is helpful. I would advise anyone interested in learning to applique to start out with this book. Thank you Janet Pittman.

Great Reference for Hand Applique
I ordered this book as a refresher. I had done a couple of years of hand applique before taking a 2 year hiatus when we moved. I just wasn't remembering exactly how to start, or what I needed. This book was the perfect answer. It gave me step by step directions with lots of hints and helpful photos. It covers several different techniques, needle turn or fusible, cotton or wool. It's spiral binding means you can easily lay open the page you need. It's a deep dive into technique and needed supplies that you could never effectively provide in a single online video. It is a valuable investment for anyone wanting to have an easy reference for their applique craft

An Applique Class in Book Form
When it says A Complete Guide they are not kidding. This details multiple variations of the same techniques which allow for creative flexibility. The book is packed with good pictures, tips, and even the binding is helpful. It opens up flat so you can refer to it easily as you work. I would suggest this text to anyone who wants to applique, novice or practioner.

Very comprehensive book on all types of applique!
Excellent, well-written book!! This is a hard cover book, with a spiral spine (it folds completely flat when opening. The directions on this book are very comprehensive and easy to understand. I have the earlier edition of this book, but the addition of directions for doing wool applique and bias stems made the purchase worth it to me. I love having instructions for all types of applique in one place. The pictures and projects are beautiful, and the pattern pieces are full-sized. I highly recommend this book. Please mark if you find my review helpful. Thank you so much!

Nice update of a classic publication.
This has been around for several years and and the updates have kept the process interesting and well presented. a good overall guide to a wide range of techniques. Good photographs and clear directions. I still have my copy of the first version of this book and plan to keep them all.

very tight spiral binding spoils book
Excellent book, covering aspects of both hand and machine applique. But that is spoiled by a very small spiral binding which interferes with page turning and promises rather rapid destruction. For that reason, I am returning the book.
