Great fun for the price
I have read a few negative reviews saying the game is basically the same as Fifa 12, Fifa 11 etc and whilst Fifa 13 isn't exactly a radical update on the previous editions you get what you pay for: basically updated teams, a bit of treaking and a fun game for what is essentially a budget price as I only paid £12 for a new copy of the game. Also there are features included that aren't in the PS3 version of Fifa 13 for example in the PS3 you cannot play a basic seasons mode in Fifa 13 offline where you just pick the team, tactics and play full seasons without dealing with finance. EA are basically only giving you half a game if you cannot play online so that is a reason why I like playing the ps2 version despite an inferior game engine. Another point is that the ps2 version of Fifa 13 still includes the game manuals which I think EA should still include in the PS3/Xbox 360 games. I still like to read manuals at my own leisure and not have to go online to look at controls. I do not like the way games companies are pushing everything online not everyone is online savvy. Overall though the PS2 version of Fifa 13 is a great game for the platform so get it whilst it is cheap.

Worth buying, but not an essential update
The PS2 is for kids and occasional players these days as I imagine all the hardcore gamers have more up to date consoles, so I suppose most of us already expect or don't mind that this game has all the usual pros and cons. If you're playing against the PS2,there's no improvement on Fifa 11 in the graphics, cut scenes, menus, most likenesses or animation, but they've managed to tweak the gameplay enough so that it feels more competetive than it did.Dribbling's easier and more realistic, too, which helps make it feel worth buying. They've also cut out the anomaly of playing an FA Cup game on the same day as a Premiership match. On the down side,it's more obvious when the PS2 takes over control, usually if a defeat is pre-programmed, but not exclusively.Your players slow right down and start making really stupid passes, which is disappointing, but even so it's still way more subtle than PES. The financial side is slightly more realistic, too, but it's still too easy to build a team of the world's best players.Still plenty of pointless messages about "a crushing defeat" after grinding out a 1-0 win,or "fans overjoyed at surprise victory" after you beat Aldershot 5 - 0.I don't know why they persist with these as they are just pointless and slightly irritating, but easy enough to skip past.Otherwise, not much new besides mostly, but not entirely,up to date squads.I always mute the music, commentary and sound effects so can't say whether they're better or worse, but it's still an entertaining way to pass half an hour or so.UPDATE:I was wrong about the FA Cup games - they are still on the same day as club matches.

Same old, Same old.
So, I bought the newest version of FIFA on PS2 as I don't have an Xbox 360 or PS3 and what I found was that it's exactly the same as every other version of FIFA for PS2. Gameplay - The same, Menus - The same, I'm sure the little scenarios that come up in manager mode are exactly the same as the previous 2 or 3 versions too.You can't really expect the world from the gameplay considering the game is for a console well past it's use by date, but come on lads, changing the colours of the menus is hardly worth the cash is it?You get what you pay for here - the previous few versions of FIFA for PS2 but with updated squads and kits. Even the commentary is the same which is truly pathetic, surely it can't take THAT long to add the newest commentary onto the PS2 version too? That's not the console holding it back, it's just pure laziness. To summarise, if you can't afford an Xbox 360/PS2 maybe you should start saving up instead of buying this game, I would have rather saved my tenner and put it in a new console fund.

Faulty
Disappointing. Game would not load. Tried on two different consoles. No Joy. Still waiting for my refund.

Fun, but online wins
It differs considerably from the on-line version making the creation of the players laborious, the transfer market is limited, and the salaries fixed. It's also missing the goal keeper as a career.

FIFA 13 PS2
I find the gameplay to be smoother than earlier versions of FIFA though it looks like FIFA 08 was the last game that Playstation really concentrated on. By that stage the next-gen consoles were the main focus. As other reviewers ave said its basically just the teams and kit updates with a few extra stadiums that weren't in FIFA 08 or earlier versions. One noticeable disappointment is the lack of atmosphere in the crowd they no longer jump around and ave very limited movement. Things like that seem to ave been neglected because I remember even FIFA 2003 had a fantastic atmosphere as the teams ran onto the field. Obviously the graphics don't compare to the next-gen consoles but saying that I use to own a xbox 360 but found myself enjoying the PS2 versions of FIFA more. Plus these days you can get the games on PS2 so much cheaper...

Brilliant Game
I am not a football fan but when I played this game on PS3 with my cousins at Christmas, I LOVED IT. When I got home I had to buy it so found it on PS2 and bought. I saw no difference in graphics, both excellent and this game overall is so addictive, I played it for the first time today for 6 HOURS!!!!! Most I've ever played a game for.
