Medium sized dino - definitely not "big"
So I was having trouble deciding between this one and the green, less of a whipped tail version by this same company as an upcoming surprise for a long week away from home for my kiddo who's recently fallen in love with The Land Before Time. All we have are my old JP dinos from when I was a kid from the original movie, but they regrettably never made a "long neck" :-). My toddler seemed to prefer this one over the green one from Safari, and so we chose this guy based on reviews saying it was sturdy, and not too big (this needs to fit in a carry on), etc.I've included some photos - one thing I was surprised about was the uh, elimination hole of some sort? I guess? I don't know, I included a photo. The lighting was kinda crappy, but it looks like it was done very intentionally with how precise it is and the paint job. Not sure if that's just ours or what, but I didn't see that on any reviews and made me laugh a bit. I can see how others might find it off putting though. This is my first purchase from this company and i bought another dino from a competing company which tends to be more expensive but gets very high reviews (carnivore in the photos is from that company) and I included the carnivore in photos for size/quality comparison, and I'd say quality wise they are quite similar, surprisingly. This model is solid hard rubber material with wrinkles, not just detail painted on. The whip tail seems like it will take some rough play before snapping (if ever). I mean you'd have to really twist and bend to break this guy. His neck has all those extra folds, but is still round - I felt like other photos made it seem like the neck was more flat and less round, but not so. Like others have said, the paint job is detailed and nice and for the price point of about $10, you can't beat it. I personally find the green one by this company more attractive and desirable as it seems to be larger than this one, but this guy is a great addition to our collection. He's more of a medium size dino than a large one though. I definitely recommend him!

Good version of Apatosaurus
Very nice. Longish whiplike tail may be slightly inaccurate for an Apatosaurus but it looks cool here. Nice details and interesting paint job. For Safari brand, this one is long and has some substantial weight. Solid and stands well. Nice addition to my collection.

Super-sized sauropod for super-sized play
My son wanted a whip-tailed, super-sized sauropod to add to his growing dinosaur collection. (Okay, and so did I!) Usually Safari is our last choice for hard plastic animals, since their plastics are more plasticky, their modelling and paint work less accurate. But this high-quality Apatosaurus bucks the Safari trend, ranking right up there with Schleich and Papo. We especially like the delicate curve of the tail and the spacing between the legs. The big size means that it stands in nice, naturalistic (if not realistic) contrast to his smaller species of dino.

Made my son's eyes light up!
Bought this for my toddler son. I was looking for something non-toxic, not too small, and high quality. This fit the bill perfectly. Amount of detail is amazing and it is just the right size to grow with him. Seems very durable and I don't expect it to break, but I am slightly concerned that the thin parts like the tail or neck could snap if enough pressure were applied (if someone's had any experience with it actually breaking, please let me know). I did find from another website that it is made from ABS plastic, which I usually try to stay away from, but I believe after doing some more research that it is generally safe to play with...I would just make sure to keep it away from any sources of heat such as a hot car and I make sure he doesn't put it in his mouth.

Very high quality
The birthday request was for a brontosaurus. Fortunately this dinosaur came up in the search results, teaching me that the correct name is apatosaurus. I was very pleased with the quality of this product. My son has an older apatosaurus from Safari that is made from a softer plastic and has obvious seam marks from the injection mold. This newer model is made from a higher density, more rigid plastic - even compared to Schleich dinosaurs. The coloring also seems more realistic - not that anyone knows what the real colors should be, but it looks more natural, rather than a painted figure.

Well Made, Great Toy
I purchased this for a friend's severely autistic boy. He loves it and plays with it all the time! This is the second toy I have gotten from Safari Ltd. for him and both appear to be among his favorite toys.

Very Nice
I ordered this Dino for my son and he loves it. Its whipped tail is very nice and it's flexible. The detail is INCREDIBLE and accurate. It is a good size compared to my son's other safari dinos, and the color is a cool bluish gray on top and a yellowish tan underneath( Love the color). Overall this apatosaurus is outstanding.
