To Date the ONLY Centerpin Reel with a Drag
To my knowledge this is the only current production centerpin style reel that has a drag. A switch turns it on or off. Off is completely free spool and on is whatever you set it for. You let your float go down river with the drag switched off and switch it on once you are hooked up. Apparently these are in high demand right now as most sellers are asking around $200 over MSRP. I think in time there will be more models with an on/off drag system but for now I'm fairly sure this is the only centerpin reel with this feature. If other manufacturers don't start making reels with a similar drag feature I believe supply will eventually catch up to demand making this model more affordable. I'm amazed it took so LONG for someone to come up with this feature. As far as free spool goes I would put any model Okuma makes up against any $1000 reel any day. It doesn't have to cost a lot of money to get a great centerpin reel and Okuma makes a few different models. ALL of them are great reels.
