i,ve had a different branded tester for about 10 years that got damaged in my van. so hope this last,s as long.always attempt to recharge a battery and test again before scrappingi also bought the topdon bt20 for more detailed testing via an app.

I have a mixed collection of 6 new and old lead acid batteries that I use for storing power from my hobby scale solar panels, but had no idea whether the older batteries were still worth keeping. I disconnected them individually and tested them with this tester - they passed.....just. BUT the point is that this device shows unambiguously how a battery is performing. CCA rating is what you need to know and the only way to find out is to draw loads of power and watch. SO THIS IS SCARY TO USE, it is basically an electric heater in a box with a meter attached - when you use it you have a few seconds to read the meter before the tester overheats. It works perfectly if used properly and it is the only credible way to assess a lead acid battery.

Not for constant use but ideal for light duty.Well made for the very reasonable price and accurate against a workshop one.Set your phone for 8 seconds.It will.pong a bit too as it heats.Used carefully should be a asset .Some smart chargers tell lies and you may be junking a good battery...

Well built metal case, accurate (compared with a digital voltmeter in parallel) analogue meter, heavy duty cables and battery clamps. The only possible negative, in the longer term, may be the momentary switch that applies the load and activates the meter. It’s probably not rated for much more than 10-15 Amps, but for my domestic only/intermittent use I’m sure this will be fine. For the price it’s an incredibly useful tool, in a pretty robust form, for the non-professional (or careful pro’) user.

It does the job but it feels kind of antiquated. The instructions were in Chinglish and are a bit tricky to understand. Not bad for the price. A modern digital machine would be preferable.

Handy starter item to properly indicate battery health rather than relying on a volt meter which really doesn't tell you much. R there better ones out there , maybe, however I got this as it had the 6v option and was only using a voltmeter which gave me no load indicator. Would have like a digital reader and have not used it too much so not sure about its lifespan, but so far so good.
