The heater works really well. I was unsure about how it worked that’s why my tank was so hot at first the thermometer strip surprisingly works good too I have a regular one and the strip one seems to show accurate temperatures

Update: the HITOP team reached out to me immediately after writing this review, and offered a full refund for the broken product. They then reached out again to offer a brand new heater to replace the broken one. The team has been wonderful to work with, and they go the extra mile to help customers feel satisfied. I’m sure I got a faulty heater in the original package, as it was no fault of HITOP, but I so appreciate they made things right. The new heater works phenomenal.Original: After 9 years my original tank heater for my 10 gallon kicked the bucket. As I was going to redo my tank anyways, I ordered this heater but used two 5 gallon rated heaters for the mean time. Those two were able to keep the tank at a consistent 78° while the room is usually 68-69. Unfortunately I think I got a faulty heater as the light turns red but the heater itself is never warm, and my tank is getting colder.

Got this for my fish tank and it has not failed me or given me any difficulties, my fish are proof of that lol they love their 75 degree water.

I was scared when I looked at the reviews, but since no one was stocked with the heater I wanted, I went with this. So far my fish are very happy (and alive) and the heater keeps the tank at the perfect temp. Only trade-off is that the temperature control nob is hard to turn, so I must take the heater out of the tank to do that. I like to keep my tank at the same temp. all the time though so it’s not much of a problem. My fish actually like to hang out near the heater so I think it’s okay. Great for the price, I got a size larger than my tank just to make sure it worked fast.

Why did you pick this product vs others?:It still works bought it 2years ago

Got this for a 20 gallon tank. The knob is excessively difficult to turn, but no matter what I set the heater to, the water temperature is never consistent. The other day, around 7am, I went through setting it up and getting the heater added to my office aquarium. I just have a mystery snail in there right now, so I figured I'd set it to 76 and see how it went. By noon, the water had hit almost 80. I thought at first that maybe the thermometer was wrong, but no - genuinely warm to the touch. And since I placed the heater and thermomenter on opposite ends of the tank (HOB filter in between) it may have been higher. So about four degrees too warm? Turn it down four degrees, right? I turned it down to 72.This morning the tank was 64 (or less; that's just as low as the temperature sticker can read). Puzzled, I bumped it up to 73. The light turned on and i could see the ripples as the water began heating. As of right now, 1:30pm, it's now sitting between 76 and 77 (climbing). I've checked the tank multiple times throughout the day and I have not seen the heating light turn off even once. If it goes past 78, I'm gonna unplug and return.

The HiTop aquarium heater is great, we purchased it for our mini-pond outside, it has done well to maintain the temperature in that tank and our fish. Very reasonable pricing, easy set up instructions, well designed to show temp and adjust as needed so very functional.

The item is perfect and easy to adjust the temperature with easy suction cup for mounting and looks really good
