Every night, before Sylvia goes to sleep, she whispers a magic spell to the rhyme-elves. In the morning her Wonder Book is filled with beautiful pictures and poems of her adventures and the extraordinary stories she has heard. There is nothing Sylvia loves more than stories; so every day she asks her mother, the old woodsman and even her fairy friend Sister-in-the-Bushes to tell them to her. They weave magical stories of clever princesses, far-away kingdoms, courageous knights, kind children and graceful fairies. During the day, Sylvia also has her own adventures: planting a fairy tree, meeting St Nicholas and venturing into the deep woods. But as she comes closer to her special seventh birthday, there is one extraordinary adventure left. This enchanting collection of tales, charmingly told by Isabel Wyatt, takes us through the highlights of the year as Sylvia and her friends celebrate festivals and birthdays. Review: Beautiful and magical - The main character is 6, not 7, but definitely speaks to any child who is still in the realm of magic. Great to read along with the seasons starting in early autumn through new year. Has a religious (Waldorf) slant Review: Beautiful stories for your seven year old - This is actually my second time ordering this book. We had a previous copy for an older child that got lost in a move. When my daughter recently turned seven, I remembered this book and knew we needed another copy. The stories are so gentle and heartwarming, and really touch on topics that are important to children this age. The parallels to their actual lives are presented in a sweet, gentle way. We read a little each day and I've heard my daughter retelling the stories to her dolls and stuff animals. They make an impression that builds the child up.

I have 2 sons and they liked the book
This was purchased to go with the Waldorf inspired home school curriculum Oak Meadow for the subject of Social Studies. This story was such a magical story about a little girl, Sylvia, who was about to celebrate her 7 year birthday. This story is a way to gently teach your child about empathy, helpfulness, kindness, trust, ext. Things that are really no longer taught in a common core classroom. I have 2 sons and they liked the book, even though it seems to be geared more to girls. Imps, sister in the bush, were all favorite characters. Highly recommend.

Rich, inspiring, and meaningful adventure stories!! Isabel Wyatt is a master wordsmith!
We love love love this book! Isabel Wyatt is a wonderful imaginative author. We have her other books as well. Each story is laden with wonderful imagery and a meaningful message. It's very unlike most of the "fluff" stories offered to children these days. The book is rich and fulfilling like all great stories are! I couldn't recommend this more highly. Both my son and daughter loved these stories, now that they are young adults they recall them with great fondness!

Sweet gift for seventh birthday
I love this book. I bought it as a birthday gift for a little friend on her seventh birthday. Itโs a sweet, simple story that follows a young girl through her seventh year and the pictures that she finds drawn for her as gifts while she sleeps. My four grown girls enjoyed this book many years ago and I am happy to introduce a new generation to its loveliness.

Gentle and magical stories.
Iโve been reading to my daughter aged 6 who has started class1 in Steiner school. Although she enjoys new setting also is missing her kindergarten. The stories are wonderfully magical, warm and healing. I see my daughter calmer and grounded since started the book.
