A stylish and affordable automatic
Overall, this watch is a great bargain. First, it does what it is supposed to do, it tells time very reliably. Second, it looks good doing it. From a distance of only a few feet, this could pass for a Kenneth Cole.I do have a few gripes. The pleather wristband looks and feels extremely cheap but you get what you pay for and from a distance, it isn't strikingly synthetic looking. A slight design oversight is that the watch hands are metallic with glow-in-the-dark centers against a very shiny metallic foil surface, creating an impractically low contrast between hands and background. I guess I wish it was just a little less shiny. I also wish the second hand were a bit thicker and stood out just a bit more but it's not that big of a deal.I would rate this about a 4 out of 5 stars as a whole but for the price, it doesn't get any better.

Nice watch, loses a lot of time, very inexpensive
I will first say that I haven't been able to find another automatic wrist-watch that is less than $70-$80, let alone less than $15. (Wal-Mart has a very pretty one for $125, but they also have one or two more-average-looking ones for around $80)This watch feels fine on my wrist (though after the band had adjusted from use, it started wanting to slide down an inch or so), the watch face is also an okay size (I suppose it's about a medium size - perhaps a little larger than some, and smaller than the super-large-faced watches). It has a nice, thick... um... watch case area. Thicker than most watches I've seen. The second hand is constant, while I would rather have an incrementing/ticking second hand, but I think it depends on the person. The watch is quiet. I have to put it up to my ear to hear it ticking (it ticks maybe around 20 times a second? I could never keep up to accurately time it). I can also sometimes hear the pendulum quietly 'woosh' if I move my wrist right next to my ear.I didn't get the same watch as pictured. It's very similar, with the same shape and the same patterns, but it's not the exact same. The back view of the watch is almost completely different, other than the basic shape. The back does not say a thing about it being stainless steel or about being water resistant, the pendulum is shaped differently, the screws inside are blue instead of silver (but that does add more color to it), and etc. I didn't get a box or directions with it. I'm not sure if I would have if I'd asked or not.I've asked someone at Dakota Watch Company about the watch, and the person I spoke with said they thought the metal could have been made of a blend of stainless steel and other metals (but they didn't examine the watch, just glanced at it when I held up my wrist). There was a thin scratch through the metal on the back of the watch when I got it (from the edge of the watch to the start of the back window), but I haven't noticed any scratches since. I wore the watch for one week straight (not including when asleep - I laid it face up when going to bed) to see how it did, and I kept track of how it kept time. There were two or three times I had tried winding the watch, but I could never tell when it was finished (I've also found that it's a lot easier to wind if you use an adjustable wrench. The groves on the knob are a bit too deep for me). When setting the time, pulling out the knob won't freeze the second hand (it will make a quiet clicking noise when pulling it out, by the way). I found out later that if you wait until the watch stops, you can set the time backwards and the second hand won't start. It takes about five seconds to shake the watch enough to get it moving after this, so I'll set it five seconds fast. Also be sure to set it as close to an even 5 minute mark as possible (for both the second and minute hands), since this is one of the types of watches that only mark every five minutes. I also have a quartz watch like that. During the first week, I'd noticed the watch losing about two and a half seconds per hour on average (but it varied overnight, from seeming to keep time almost perfectly to losing as much as it does during the day). This 2.5-2.7 second loss of time will really add up. I found some sites online that say this kind of watch can be adjusted, but I don't know of any place close to where I live that will do it for me (Jared's said they do that type of thing, but they have to send a watch off to have it adjusted). I had bought the watch knowing that other reviewers have said the band is terrible, thinking I would replace it with a silver chain (or even a black rope), but I haven't yet found something acceptable to change it out with. The band has stayed together for me so far, though, and it does look kind of nice. When I put the watch on, the buckle may slice a thin sliver off the edge of the band, and the belt-loop beside the buckle had come unglued at one point (I tried sewing it back together. My bad stitching has held so far).I've decided to only wear the watch occasionally, but it loses more time when I do this (wearing it constantly keeps it wound better - and you'll need to wear it constantly to know how much time it's gaining or losing - but the time may need to be reset frequently if you decide to always wear it, unless taken somewhere to adjust).I asked YouYouPifa about the watch and they said to wind it 30-40 times and not to wind it backwards because the movement can get stuck, as well as it being normal for the watch to loose a lot of time. They also said the watch should work well for about 12 hours after taking it off, if it's wound up.

Best cheap mechanical watch of all time
I have had this watch for over 8 years and it is a survivor. It has been washed and dried by accident, hit, dropped, you name it heat it looks great and continues to keep on ticking. A quick wind in the morning and it runs for as long as you wear it. It dies over night, but for a sum durable as it is, you can’t go wrong. If it ever dies, I’ll buy ano5er one the same day. I got rid of the cheap band though and made my own paracord band with a 500lb test cord and 500lb adjustable clasp. The idea was to make a battery-less survival watch, and this was the perfect product for the job.

BROKEN
The watch was great, the band felt cheep as it wasnt real leather but that wasnt my problem. With in 2 days the window lens became cracked even though i took great care of it. After the crack the entire watch stopped working. Over all its not even worth its low price.

upsetting
looks great but huge issues, even for the priceband after 4 days fell apart, but i already saw others say that so i had a band ready for when i got it. but that didnt matter, it wouldnt even keep time over night, and stop working after a month. again looks nice yes, but not worth itI see the price of this has gone up.. when it was 12-15 buts it was fine, but now it is a 1 star cause only good thing before was the price, if it cost more than 10 bucks for this thing, and you want it..just turn around, smack yourself in the head, turn back and click off the page.

Cool watch, bad band
The watch itself here is big and super pretty, though I have a problem with it self winding. It only seems to stay wound on days I work (I work at a grocery store, so there is much movement of the wrist there). Otherwise, it stops and I have to set the time again the next day.More importantly though, is the watch band that came with it. Immediately upon opening this product I noticed the poor quality of the band and predicted its death in a month or so. I think it was about half of that. I ended up heeping it together for a bit longer with tape, but it looked rather horrid, so I bought another band worth more that the watch and it actually looks amazingly stylish and nice now.

Worth WAY more $$$
I absolutely love this watch, The quality seems much higher that you would expect for the price! The watch, as you know, is a self winder, meaning that it winds itself by your body's daily movement. It also has a stem winding "jump start" which comes in handy when you don't wear it for a while and it loses its wind. I wore it for a week straight, and it kept time phenomenally well. It only died once on me so far, and that is because I did not wear it for a full day and it lost its wind. But the next morning I just reset the time, gave the stem "jump start" 20 turns and It roared back to life instantly and has been flawlessly accurate since. As mentioned in the title, this is an EXTREMELY good price for this watch!I would gladly pay double what I paid for this item, no problem!
