This scanner is average all the way around. The last scanner I purchased was back in 2000, so I figured this product would be far superior in every aspect. While there are some better features, the overall performance and quality is just slightly better. The speed at which this scanner works is not very fast. At higher resolutions it can take over 10 minutes to scan a photo.The quality is good, but not great. I also had problems installing the drivers and software. Not happy with it. I use it mainly for my art and made the mistake of getting a model that has too little variety. I had the 8200 Series before an loved it but could not fine one available when my old one "died". Unforunately, I needed another one immediately. This one is too restricted and very slow.

I was looking for a new scanner since my old one wasn't compatible with Windows 7. I found this one and it's been working great. I had to download the driver from the HP windows, but that was easy to do.

I had to replace my scanner that died - this is a very good scanner but of lesser quality than my old one - however for documents it is tops and that's primarily what I will use for.

My first home scanner. I really liked how easy it was to set up & use, and its compact size & light weight--and I also liked the fact that you could scan slides as well as opaque images. I owned mine for about a year & a half & then sold it on to a friend, who is still using it (it's now 2 years old!) and loves it as much as I did.
