Ground bird feeder cage for small birds
Does exactly what itโs meant to do, stop larger birds like pigeons and magpies from getting all the feed, while letting sparrows and blackbirds have an uninterrupted feed ! Very pleased with it. Very strongly made.

Small birds feeder
Love this bird feeder. Only want to feed small birds. The hanging varieties leave seeds on ground. Pigeons are attracted by seed droppings. This bird feeder only let's small birds in. Just what I needed.

Product seems to work. At least for wood pigeons.
Wood pigeons are the problem. They eat everything. Certainly worked for them. I would suspect Ferrell pigeons would be able to get through the bars. Took a few days for the blackbirds to get used to it and lose there fear of something strange. The females now calls to me as if to say look at me, I am now using the feeder. Even sit outside my home office window before hand perched on the garage roof, Makes a chirping sound, looks at me for approval and then flies down to the feeder. May benefit from an additional horizontal bar that may inhibit Ferrell pigeons. Update: The Ferrell pigeons, more specifically the young ones are very persistent so made my own modification. Basically garden wire wound round each vertical post. Done slightly higher and then pulled down to tighten. Only one pigeon made it through since doing the mod. Dropped my rating by 1. Young grey quirrel's also a problem. Well was.

Keeps the big birds out
We used to get lots of pigeons in our garden for the food but now we only see the odd one. I would definitely recommend this product if you have larger birds eating all the food, Itโs sturdy and comes fully assembled itโs easy to fill and worth the money.

Pigeons love this..!
Well made and sturdy but does it do what it's advertised to do..? in a word "No.." It may well keep out the Wood Pigeons but Pigeons and Collared Doves just walk on through... Sorry guys but as I bought this purely to help the Blackbirds and Starlings get some food before the lovely Pigeons eat it all then one start is all you're gonna get... Guess I'll have to repurpose it upside down as a hanging basket or something...

Does what it should do, but not for us.
3 stars because it does do what it should do, but does not suit our needs. We have the pigeon/magpie/crow big bird feeding issue, as in we don't want to feed them while they think we should. The feeder cage as it comes is wonderful as it stops them getting in, while the ground feeders can enjoy their food. Then we got jackdaws. All the time we'd been feeding birds, we didn't have any. Then 1 day they found us & decided to stay. My goodness, they are vicious!! They got into the feeder, got all the food, turned the little tray over. Scared the other birds off. Give them their due, the pigeons stood their ground - ever hopeful to get a crumb somehow - & we had much noise & squwabbling in the garden. So we added long cable ties to the feeder - just 1 row about 4"/10cm up, with ties to keep them in place. Little birds could still get in, big birds no go. Except for the jackdaws. So another row of cable ties were added. Jackdaws were not happy, but we were. Had a few days seeing the garden birds as it should be, even the pigeons cleaned up any dropped/scattered food. And then.......while we atr lunch indoors, we got a very unwelcome visitor: ran straight through the garden to the tray & tucked in. A rat. Hubby & I broke any human land speed record to move it on. The feeder & tray were picked up & haven't been used since. Now, the feeder is loitering in a corner with our obsolete glass recycling box, while we decide how we can feed the ground feeder birds. So, 3* because it does do what it should do, but we want to keep our garden safe. (pics - 1st is straight out of the box, 2nd is after the additions).

Solid construction

Does not deter squirrels or magpies, use it for holding bedding plants.
This feeder keeps the big birds out, but not squirrels! I have read that putting chilli powder on bird seed deters squirrels and rats, but does not harm birds. So, I am going to to try this idea. It doesn't stop jackdaws getting in - they are very clever. So I have given up with this one as a bird feeder and turned it up the other way, lined it, put it on a stand and filled it with bedding plants!
