This book makes sense
I have never thought much about the energetics of food and how we take on the characteristics of what we eat, but now that I am reading this book, I can definitely see it and how I have the characteristics of the things I eat frequently and can see patterns in my behavior based on my diet. Having worked in the health food industry for a decade, I have noticed some of our customers who took on an orange pigment when they juiced a lot of carrots frequently so this book resonates with me. If a carrot can turn a person orange when they eat them often then it only makes sense that when we eat certain foods/ animals frequently, we too will begin to take on the characteristics of that animal. It has helped to put some pieces together about my own personality and why I carry some of the traits that I do and has made me realize the diets of some of my ancestors. Reading certain descriptions, I somewhat piece together what they may have eaten based on family personalities, character traits, and specific facial/ body characteristics, as well as why I am drawn to certain foods even though I did not grow up eating them. I thoroughly enjoy and recommend this book and now understand more than ever the importance of a variety of foods in my diet, what to avoid or limit and why, and am definitely putting more thought into choosing certain foods, enjoy a much wider variety, and seek out certain foods that have not been a regular part of my diet.

Groundbreaking!
Everything is Energy and this book reveals that in an insightful way. I've yet to come across any book that delves into the ancient intersection of food reality and our modern ills in such depth. Excellent work here. It's a must read!

we are what we eat and assimilate
We are what we eat and assimilate. Food Energetics has taken this idea to a new light. We as eaters take in the sum of our food, such as the environment they live in, the cares they receive, the greenness of the pasture, and blueness of the sky and the shine of the sun, the food they take in,... needless to say, we take in the chemicals as well. It is essential to intimately know our food,...sue vanagsboard certified holistic health practitioneryoung mind young body health coach

Could Have Been a Great Book
This book had a lot of potential. Unfortunately, many theories were poorly described, debated and none were referenced. If you want to know what his conclusions are, just read the last chapter - that was the most helpful and truthful part of this too-long book. His ideas about the energetics of various foods were unfounded and confusing. Sometimes they agreed with TCM or other substantiated food energetic theories, sometimes not. But he does offer by the bushels way too much disorganization and pages of poorly written conclusions. This is one of the worse books on nutrition I have ever read. I was very disappointed. Like I mentioned, I did like his last chapter on his conclusive remarks on how people should eat in order to be healthy. Save your money and borrow the book and just read the last chapter. Too much paper was wasted on this book.

Game Changer
I loved this book -- Mr. Gagne opened my eyes and my mind to eating differently based on energy. True Energy.

some parts boring or out-of-place)
It's an interesting theory, but it's not very well written, in my opinion (occasional swearing, some parts boring or out-of-place). But the theory of food energetics is fascinating.

Great Read
This book is revolutionary to me. I never imagined that raw food offered so much more nutrition and Steve explains it wo well. This changed my life for the better. Wish I could share it with everyone!

Not up to expectations
This sounded like a very inspiring book, and the writer has approached his long-term research in a lively way, by visiting traditional cultures all over the world and studying there interactions with food. However, I found it very long-winded and repetitive (it is about 600 pages in length). This makes the relevant key information tedious to search for.He addresses the 'civilised' habits that western cultures have grown to think of as superior, first, with reference to the commercialisation of food production, then goes on (eventually!) to include some sections on individual food groups, like grains and beans, their history, and nutritional value. This was the most valued section for my needs, and I will keep - or make copious notes on - this part.I skipped a lot of the final section as it was really going into rambling and repeated discussion of modern food habits and politics.I feel sure the useful section of food families and useage could be found elsewhere in a more easily referenced form!

Written with wit and passion and reads like an adventure
Written with wit and passion and reads like an adventure. It addresses how recent faddish eating patterns have contributed to a global catastrophe of chronic conditions and how to remedy that by returning to traditional means of food cultivation and preparation. In the future, I'll surely delve into this resource using a gourmande buffet approach, or selectively hunting and gathering what it has to offer. There is much knowledge here, not mere information. This applied wisdom has come from the author's extensive travel, experiencing personally and lovingly cultivating and transmitting to his audience with much care and humour. It is clear that we need to question where recent development has and will take us. Quality nourishment will give us much of what we need to enable the needed paradigm shifts necessary for thriving on quality rather than subsisting on quantity. Bravo, Mr. Gagné, vous avez bel et bien gagné avec votre œuvre remarquable !

amazing book - amazing research - I've read tonnes of nutrition books but this is totally new on what energetics each food has, how to heal areas of the body, a must read. as Steve says when you test theories proposed by ancient societies they always get ratified by Science unlike new fangled diets like low fat, or Paleo. He gives us a new perspective on food and warns us to be careful by restricting categories of food as we may be missing out on vital nutrients
