Book that shifts your perception about Nice people
I have the kindle edition of this book, I bought it after I heard doctor Gabor Mate’s lecture on how chronic stress is killing us..There is a lot of technical medical information, which you expect a physician to delve into. However, I like doctor gives stories and interviews of people throughout the book to explain how people’s childhood affects their behaviours as an adult. My mom just told me, someone we know died of Cancer in her stomach..I immediately started to think about this woman’s life. she was widowed at a very young age, later she remarried.. but died too soon..I was wondering what stress she must be holding in her stomach..I am no doctor. But this book really makes you think.I also met a friend who said her mom died of Crohn's disease, and I actually asked her to read this book. Her mother mistaken the symptoms of Crohn’s disease as normal gut issues..But I also know that my friend’s dad has not been very kind to her mom all her married life. And I started wondering about this book again..Because Dr Gabor talks a lot about auto immune disease and its relation to chronic stress..

Fantastic book and written with a human touch
In today's fast paced world, Maté makes a cogent point about stress and it's untold implications on the body. Fantastic read, and a story told with a human touch.
