Awakener. Humiliater. Lifesaver.
I've pored over Lord-knows-how-many self-help tomes in my time, furrowed brow, best-intentioned, sincerity blazing.Ms Emmett's is the first that made me go "Ouch!".By the Nine Gods of Clusium, she has my number. 'Hypocritical Procrastination'? Bullseye. That chapter alone does it.Even mid-reading, I was reaching for the phone to call my honey on some daft pretext; rising from my desk to go chatter with colleagues; re-shuffle papers ....I actually slammed the phone down, stayed put, killed the CNN link ... told a colleague "Actually, I *am* busy right now. One hour from now?"This is working for me. Ain't easy - a lifetime of indulgence and the most appalling self-delusion - but I need to folow its lessons and Emmett has the spot-on tone that gets to me.Don't buy it: I have a lot of catching up to do and it might work for you, too, in which case that's one more rival I won't be overtaking. Bless you, Rita E. Right! Enuff of this time-wasting composing of a review; I have filing and ironing and writing to me mum to do, not to mention cold calling that swine of a landlord to fix my fridge. I'm a busy man and there's no perfect time to act; there's only now. Yoda had it right: Do or do not. There is no try.

Help for those Who Put Things Off
Do you put off doing today what you could do tomorrow -- or later? Join the human race! If you are a mild procrastinator or just need some organizational advice, this self-help book could help you get to the bottom of your problem and begin to make progress towards your goals. Filled with tips to get you organized and motivated, almost anyone could benefit from some of the advice offered here. I discovered I'm not a true procrastinator, but more of an "overwhelmed procrastinator:" because there are literally too many tasks on my to-do list for any reasonable person to finish, working on one means I must neglect three or four others. Even so, the author had suggestions I found helpful. A few of the suggestions now need updating: for example, the author operates on the assumption that people are working with paper agendas, notebooks and file folders, whereas today most of us work electronically. However, you can easily adapt this advice to the virtual world of e-files and smart phone calendars.

It's hard to "Do It Now" when you have Netflix
I love this book!...It's so easy to read and it is so dead-on about procrastinators that I have found myself laughing hard at particular passages. I really am admiring the author's wisdom, insights and humor and I am only on page 49. I spent two days looking for a book to help me and my college-aged daughter get things done, and I feel lucky that I picked the right book for us despite there being many, many books on this topic. It's a rare book that gets 5 stars from me.This book helps you to see, to think about what actions you are doing to procrastinate and the power of that knowledge will help you to change your bad habits. I'm hopeful....

The Procastinator's Handbook
I am a hoarder. Plain and Simple-a hoarder. But only for crafting and sewing things. Needless to say our small apartment is full. If I find things at a yard sale and see something I can repair or remake into something I can resell, it goes home with me.Now the apartment is so crowded with "stuff" that I have to organize or my husband is going to make me get rid of everything and I just can't have that. My problem with cleaning is 1) I hate cleaning 2) I am horrible at it. 3) I get side tracked and don't get any where. I was looking at quilting books on Amazon.com and saw the Procastinaters Handbook, looked at and read some of the pages and I had to have it. I just knew this book could help me. It has changed my life. I now know that in 30 days I will see a fantastic change in our home. It will take me longer that 30 days to get it done but, it will be done. I never thought it could done.

A Self Help Book that doesn't feel like a lecture.
***NOTE MY REVIEWS OFTEN CONTAIN SPOILERS***I found this to be an excellent book. I enjoyed the work sheet questions at the end of each chapter and found some of the the methods to be helpful. Although even though I've finished reading the book I haven't quite gotten around to answering all the assignments and implementing all the methods. In theory I think they'll work well, it's just a matter of putting them in action. The book was written in a conversational tone and was a joy to read.

Fatal Flaw of book
Okay, so I didn't actually read the book yet, which really underscores the fatal flaw behind the idea of the book. Anyone who needs to read the book, will probably put off reading the book, and it will sit in your Kindle queue where it's mere presence will remind of all the things you feel guilty about not doing. It's kind of like the literaray equivalent of an italian catholic mother sitting in your queue reminding you of what a disappoint you are. BUT as soon as I finish writing this non-review and I stack the dishwasher, clean the bathrooms, mop the floors, etc., I'm ON IT and I'm sure this book will prove to be worth every penny.

Lots of great ideas
Really glad I sat down to read over a few nights. The author really reminds you how to take charge of not only procrastination but also good ideas on how to reorganize to feel less overwhelmed.

Disappointing
I recently bought The Procrastinator's Handbook (audio version)I'm afraid I am badly disappointed with it.For a start I found it far too long for what the author has to say, padded out with random opinions and irrelevant and uninteresting anecdotes, with no structure to the theme whatsoever. I found it totally humourless.I have soldiered through the first disc and half of the second and it is now abandoned unfinished. Also it is read in a bossy and hectoring tone which I find extraordinarily irritating.(It is, however, nicely presented in its packaging!)
