It works...
Anyone considering the Superchips Flashpaq 2842 should be aware that the various tunes possible are not available on all vehicles. Not all vendors make this clear. I purchased this for my 2007 Chevy Monte Carlo SS, and the only canned tune available for it is the 91 Octane Performance Tune. Other parameters than can be adjusted for this vehicle include the speed limiter, shift points, shift pressure, and Displacement on Demand/Active Fuel Management (DoD). Once I recieved it and updated it through Superchips (easy instructions included) I hooked it up to my ride and deactivated DoD and increased the transmission shift pressure by 6 PSI in all gears. The vehicle ran perfectly on all 8 cylinders all the time and the transmission shifts were noticably firmer, but just barely. After this limited test I went for broke. I loaded the 91 Octane Performance tune, kept DoD disabled, and dialed the transmission shift pressure up 20 PSI in all gears, the max allowable with this tuner. Superchips claims a 14.9 HP increase, and to my "seat-of-the-pants dyno" this feels about accurate. Felt noticably but not spectacularly faster down the freeway on-ramp, and feels much more responsive in all situations. Set at stock pressures transmission shifts were soft and lazy at part throttle, and harder but not by much at wide-open-throttle. With the 20 PSI of additional pressure the tuner dialed in shifts were much more assertive, but remained a bit soft for an alleged sporting machine. Still, far better than stock. My fuel economy suffered with both the 91 Octane Performance tune, and the DOD deactivation. Running the 91 Octane tune with DOD off dropped the fuel economy 2-3 mpg in mixed driving according to the monitor in my gauge cluster. Deactivating DOD only without the performance tune produced a drop of about 1 mpg in mixed driving. Bottom line, I'm happy enough with the product. I purchased it primarily to deactivate DOD and firm up how the transmission shifts. Mission accomplished on both counts. While this device alone will not turn your street machine into a race-ready monster, it will help you create a more engaging and enjoyable driving experience.

Depressing that this did not work as advertised.
Ok, First off... Terriffic customer service and the company certainly backs it's product. Very nice techs too I talked to several. However, on my 2001 Chevy Suburban 2500 6.0L This product simply did not work. It downloads the stock tune, goes to upload the performance or tow tune and Nada... Communication Error. Then it tries to recover your stock file and fails at that too. Then you have to send your PCM to Superchips to get it programmed back to stock. They told me to try it again, and we went through this process a second time. So I am really disappointed. I ran through all the troubleshooting ideas, including putting the car on a charger to boost the voltage while trying to install the tune. Checking the voltages on the OBD Port, all looked great including my grounds. Maybe this will work for others, but it was just a waste of time and a lot of frustration for myself. On a positive note, Superchips paid for the shipping of my PCM to them both ways so I was out nothing but time. Sure wish it would have worked as advertised. I have a Diablo Trinity on my Mustang and have never had any issues with it at all, but she's heavily modified and needed an expensive & capable programmer.

They sent the upgraded model but it worked great with my truck
They sent the upgraded model but it worked great with my truck. I have a 2006 Chevy Avalanche. Very easy to use. I would have appreciate a note to let me know they were sending the different product because the only reason I attempted to purchase the one that seemed a bit out of date is because it matched working for two of my vehicles instead of just the one. I didn't worry about it though and just brought another diagnostic tool for the other vehicle.

Did not live up to expectations
As of now i have tried two settings, the normal setting and the fuel saving setting and neither one seem to make any difference in the performance or fuel economy of my truck. The setting that i am still interested in is the tow setting which i will try next time i hook something up. I did try to change the wheel size settings of my truck and the option did not seem to be available to me.As of now i would have to say the tuner has not lived up to expectations for me. If that changes I will update my rating.

that works great!. Power gains in any mode are not ...
I purchased this primarily to be able to disable the AFM, that works great!. Power gains in any mode are not noticeable. It does have other useful features like shift torque, rev limiter, etc.

Love it.
I always get superchips for my vehicles. I've used them for two Chevys, a ford truck and a jeep. All have worked well. The tow setting made towing a 4-door jeep on a large flat bed over 2000 miles a breeze.
