My favorite brush from the Princeton Aqua Elite series & current fave overall!
I have quickly fallen in love with the Princeton Aqua Elite series of synthetic Kolinsky watercolor brushes, since I started using them this spring. I like them because they are durable, well-made brushes that offer great paint load, springy responsiveness and a fine point that makes clean edges much easier. This size 6 quill is my favorite! It holds a ton of paint and distributes it onto the paper evenly, which is equally important. I love how long I can paint with it before I need to reload my brush. It's fantastic for wet-in-wet techniques, but works equally well wet-on-dry. The fine tip allows me to create broad strokes and fine lines with the same brush, so I don't have to change brushes as often. I do still tend to use multiple brushes in my illustration work, but being able to do more work with a single brush is greatly appreciated. One thing to note is that Princeton only offers this quill mop in a size 6.

Princeton Aqua Elite , Quill
It comes only in one size. I’m a beginner. If you use this brush with a nice watercolor paper no one will notice that you are a beginner! I poste this photo on my IG. It’s IG-worthy painting, I think. I don’t post reviews unless I believe it’s good. It holds a lot of water so detailed painting doesn’t work as much. You will need a smaller brush for those. I was able to finish painting the whole rose for less than 5 minutes, including waiting for it to dry. I am not very patient when it comes to waiting but this brush didn’t disappoint. For $20+ you won’t be disappointed. It’s really well-made. No hair coming off and it came with bristle protection when I got it.

Great watercolor Brush
I started years ago with the Princeton Neptune series and I still use them. They are great watercolor brushes that have heavy quality wood handles, but the 4850 number 6 quill is all about the brush tip and the ability to hold color and water even though the handles are not as impressive. They are much more versatile as the tips are sharp and springy and hold their shape. These brushes are hard to find for me. I can find the quill 6, but no others. I love this brush and the shipping was fast and great. I will purchase from this vendor again. Very happy.

very nice
Princeton Quill #6 Aqua Elite is a great watercolor brush. It's my number one choice for most tasks as long as the tip stays sharp, which it does for quite a long time. compared to other quill brushes it lasts longer and holds up to repeated use as well as having am overall more snappy feel

Forget other brushes! You don't need them.
I rec'd this today and to test it out I painted the attached pic. When I first got it, I was surprised by the size - it is big! I put the brush in the ref photo - pad used is a 4x6. I thought - it will be good for washes. The brush came with a large plastic covering, so on mine tip is protected well. If you look at the photo, you'll see I did a lot of little designs first (and keep in mind the pad is small) and then I came back to paint the background of the clothes and as you can see the tip was so good that I was able to paint around the designs easily and intricately. GREAT TIP. Then I did a wash around the edges - wetting the paper first and painting in - holds a great amount of water (I was able to wet all edges easily without going back to dip it in water again). The handle is fantastic - it has a soft rubber like coating and is very comfortable. Note: you don't remove the plastic around the coil. I've seen people ask that before and that's a no. Overall - I LOVE THIS BRUSH!!! I loved painting with it so much I bought another to keep with me as my plein air brush as well as it's the only one I need. If you are a beginner, get this brush and save money buying different brands and types - not really needed. If you are more advanced, you will love this brush as well. I've wanted a quill for awhile and finally got around to getting one - wish I'd bought one a few years ago as I could have saved a lot of money on the other brushes. Easy to paint with - easy to control - holds paint well - blends well - washes well - and easy clean.

Nice brush, poor packaging
The brush itself is very nice, well made and very useful. Shipping was quick, but the packaging was a problem. It was sent in a mailing envelope and the protective shield had been forced off the bristles in transit. Luckily it wasn't completely ruined, but it should have at least a right inner wrapping to protect what is ultimately a delicate, not cheap, watercolor brush.

My favorite brush of them all
I use it mostly for laying down water. The shape makes it great for both large washes and fine detail. Holds so much water in the brush but doesn’t gush out like crazy when I touch the paper. The control I have is amazing. Totally worth every penny.

I received my Princeton Elite Quill brush in good much earlier than the predicted date range and was thrilled for that. Cudo's to the seller. :) Not many places to find this brush available in Canada or available to ship to Canada without clearly outlining the duties to pay at customs. It was packed very well to protect the brush and the bristles. This brush is a gem! It holds lots of water not as much as a squirrel hair brush but still as much as needed for sure. The advantage to this brush is it provides more control with the slightly stiffer synthetic sable bristles as with all the Princeton Elite brushes. Most other quill brushes are made with squirrel hair so are extremely thirsty brushes and very floppy. Which works well but sometimes you would like a little less floppy and more control. This brush is made from synthetic sable and as with all the Princeton Elite brushes they do hold a good amount of water but provide a little more firmness in the bristles therefore give a bit more control. It comes to a very fine point which makes it versatile in it's strokes and what you can do with it rather than grabbing for a round brush to continue on painting. Especially if you are going to be using the same colour. All in all very happy with the slightly different options this quill brush brings to my painting process. I have included an image of how many fine lines this one can do on one dip..... It could do more but truth be told I got bored so I switched to broad strokes and a little wash. Also I have included in the image my Princeton Neptune Quill for visual comparison for size.

Gosh...this is the most beautiful paint brush I have ever used. It can be used from painting (drawing!!!) the finest lines to a 2cm wide ones. It holds water and paint amazingly. It's light and not too big. Just love it:)

This no. 6 Quill by Princeton Aqua Elite is a dream! I usually suck at doing a background wash. But this brush is a game changer. It holds sufficient water and pigment to work down the page, and it blends smoothly.
