Venture Pal 40L Lightweight Packable Travel Hiking Backpack Daypack-Black

My first backpack. It is light weight and has great compartments. When done, it can be folded into its own small pouch. Well designed, great fit, great price, easy to use, very sturdy, can get lots of stuff in it, too.

I have had this backpack for five years, and absolutely love it, which is why I had to write a review now. I've used it for short hikes to back country sites, as well as short day hikes, and even kayaking, and it has held up beautifully! It washes up easily in a washing machine (air dry!), and packs up small for travel. I pretty much always take it when I travel somewhere. Additionally, despite getting dirty and going through many washes, it hasn't faded. You can fit a lot into this backpack, and it has several different pockets, including a waterproof pouch. I routinely have up to 8 bottles of water, plus some cans of sparkling water, dog bowls, a back up sweatshirt (sometimes two of I'm out with a friend), and it always fits everything. I've even put a 15 pound weighted blanket in it, and had no issues. Additionally, I am a 3X woman, and this pack still works for my weight. It has adjustable chest and shoulder straps, so you can customize it to your comfort. I would 100% recommend this backpack, especially for the price. I even bought my niece and nephew these.

I bought this backpack over 4 years ago now. It is my go to bag for traveling and especially trips to Walt Disney World. After a lot of use, it shows no signs of wear. The wet bag is a hidden compartment that is great for keeping valuables safe and dry. It is also very light weight and works for carrying very little, or quite a bit [if you happen to do some shopping]. The bag also has plenty of places to hang carabiner if you want to attach additional purchases, hats, tumblers, etc. I tend to be a bag collector and have yet to find anything that works as well as this bag for day trips. The only caveat I would have is that you wouldn't want to use this bag to carry a heavy load for any long period of time.

Can I put a 4.5 or 4.9 stars? The only reason I did not put 5 stars is to highlight there is room for some little improvements. I have had this backpack just under a month and done two airline trips so far. I have been impressed with it, as I expected to be given the other positive reviews and product description. My positive comments follow down below, after my minor notes, which are hardly critical: 1. The smaller "inner" pocket inside the zippered front pocket is a "loose" pocket, as shown in my attached pic. If the bag is on my back, that's great. But as soon as I lay it down (under the plane seat, for example), everything in that pocket slides out into the zippered pocket; this has happened to me a couple of times already. A Velcro flap or small zipper on that pocket would solve it (at the cost of a fraction of an ounce... I get that; every addition costs!) A backpack by nature is tossed about, laid flat, thrown in the car, etc. 2. The text notes the upgraded waterproof pocket, which I think is a great improvement on other stuffable bags. In my month of usage, I found myself using it for other things, like a stack of tissue in case I have an allergy attack on the plane. This pocket is good-sized, but will really only hold one item, either a swimsuit OR a towel, for example. I like that it is accessed from outside the bag. 3. A key fob would be handy. When I'm traveling, I don't need my car keys from home... until I get back. A key fob would allow me to snap them in and know exactly where they are when I get back. I can't put them in the loose pocket (see point #1) because they won't stay there. Now, highlighting the many features that I do like... 1. That it easily stuffs into itself. I could just stuff it in, but I folded it vertically in quarters, then rolled it up and into the pocket. When I returned from my trip, I 2. Even better: When I'm using the backpack, that stuff sack—inverted—becomes a zipper pocket itself... and the best place for the critical items I need secured (e.g., not 'loose') but easily accessible like lotion, wallet, car/hotel keys, earbuds, etc. 3. The extra pocket (no zipper or flap) inside the main pocket is a good place for my Kindle. 4. The light weight. I laid it flat in my carry-on bag while traversing the airport, then at the gate took it out and put it on my back. Now I had all of my plane essentials without having to rifle through my carry-on bag when I got to my seat. Finally, the bag has a handful (6-10) little—and I mean *little*—loops on the outside. I have absolutely no idea what they're for, other than cosmetic purposes. But since they only cost hundredths of an ounce, it's not a big deal.

I’ve been using this Venture Pal 40L as a lightweight hiking and everyday adventure pack, and it’s been a solid performer for the price. It’s very light, packs down easily, and has more usable space than you’d expect. I’ve comfortably carried extra layers, water, snacks, and essentials without it feeling bulky. The shoulder straps are comfortable for short to medium hikes, casual walks, travel days, and general use. Zippers and stitching have held up well so far, and it’s great to keep in a car or suitcase as a “just in case” pack. That said, there is one important thing to know: it does not have a waist belt. Because of that, weight can shift to one side if you’re carrying heavier items (like a full water bottle). For longer hikes or heavier loads, you’ll notice this. For lighter, casual use, it’s totally fine. Overall, this is an excellent value pack for day hikes, travel, and everyday adventures. If you need a super lightweight, packable bag and don’t require a hip belt, this is a great choice.

This backpack is lightweight and durable, while holding a surprising amount. It’s small enough to fit under your seat during a flight, or compact-able enough to easily store in your luggage. For my trip I was able to fit a pair of shorts, three rolled up T-shirts, three pairs of socks/underwear/bras, a medium toiletries/makeup bag, a pair of sandals, an 11inch I-pad, a pair of headphones, various chargers, a travel coffee mug in the outside holder, and various other small things like snacks/gum/chapstick/etc., all with a little room left over. I haven’t tested the waterproof compartment, but it’s a nice option for your electronics if you get caught in the rain, or to separate dirty clothes from clean like I’ve been using it for. Great value for the price. I would definitely recommend this backpack to anyone considering it.

After 5 years still loving this back pack!!! It has lots of pockets and is very lightweight and durable.Best purchase we have made for day hikes and especially great if traveling!!

I've owned 2 of these now. Used these for travel with kids stuff and use it as a primary diaper bag. It's been fantastic. Has just the right pockets, love the wet compartment, it folds up super small for travel and packing. It's been great and I highly recommend. I hope it comes back in stock - I'd like a couple more colors!

It's very lightweight and fits a lot of things. Love the fact that it folds up into a pocket for easy storage and is waterproof. Lots of pockets.
