A Decent Quality Oolong At A Fair Price
I recently read an article that said a legitimate medical study showed that drinking Oolong tea daily significantly improved symptoms for Eczema patients, so I was anxious to try some. I'd been wanting some for a while anyway, I remember it from Chinese restaurants when I was a kid. I started to do some reading about the basics of Oolong and got in WAY over my head; there's a lot to know! I was able to determine that Tikuanyin is a popular variety but I also realized I could be reading about Oolong tea for weeks before I made an informed investment. So I decided to "just get something" for now without over-thinking it, and hopefully get some immediate relief of my Eczema while I continue to learn more about this type of tea and can make an even more informed purchase again later on more expensive stuff.I am very happy with this tea and definitely feel like I got my money's worth. It comes in a cute tin which I will keep for future loose tea. Inside the top lid is a second fitted lid, for added freshness. Again, this is my first purchase of Oolong, so I have nothing to compare with other than what I've seen in photos and tasted as a child, but the leaves appeared as they do in many photos, small, curled up with a tail. There are some small stem pieces and some of the leaves are slightly beat up, but I've seen photos of far worse in articles on 'what not to get'. This seems to fall within the "acceptable" quality as far as the condition of the leaves. Same for the aroma, it smelled nice, not stale but not a strong aroma either. The color of the tea is a light amber. I've seen photos with ranges of pale green to yellow to deep amber depending on the variety and level of oxidation. This is very much the color of the old Chinese restaurant tea from my childhood, maybe slightly lighter. The taste is exactly how I remember it tasting as well, which I find delicious, mild and easy to drink, maybe slightly acidic. I was very happy to read somewhere that Oolong leaves are good for many re-steeps and that seems to be true. I'm on my first infuser full, which is 2 tsp, and I've made six 8oz cups from it, which makes the price seem even better. Hardcore tea enthusiasts may likely know all kinds of things that I don't, but from my novice palette this is very pleasing and seems like a very decent tea to try out the flavor of Oolong before spending the big bucks on higher end sources. Too soon to know if it's helped my eczema yet but I'm very likely to buy this again either way.

Not As Expected
I have drunk various loose varieties and custom blends of Tikuanyin over the years, but this one falls very short in flavor.
