Item arrived in good shape. All parts were in decent shape. the boat deck was slightly warped, but this is a common tale with this particular airfix model. Not so much that I couldn't coax it back into shape when gluing the deck onto the hull. The smaller holes had quite a bit of flash, as did a lot of smaller parts. In fact, most parts needed a bit of shaving. You will definitely spend some time with an exacto blade, cleaning up some edges. A few other mating surfaces weren't exact, but not bad. I small manufacture defect in the plastic molding process of the hull, again, paint will hide this. Would be nice if they visited the Tamiya factory for lessons on plastic injection molding. The instructions can be a touch difficult to follow, make sure you read them carefully and pay attention to the specific orientation of parts. overall, a nice model that is well thought out on a midsize ship build. I'd buy it again.

Some parts are flimsy so watch out rigging. Overall, for the money, I think it turned out quite well.

Oldie, but good. A classic. Fun build. A good value.

although this was a sealed kit, some small parts came up missing or broken. I can usually deal with such problems, but it is a hassle st times.

The fitment of all the parts is good. Over all I gave it 4 stars due to the flashing. I enjoyed building is and it’s an interesting subject In the picture it is ready for final assembly and paint. Its a pretty cool model and the flashing cleans up well. I have not finished the riggings as of yet.

Couldn't put together, hull had, a big melt spot

This kit was first released in 1966. I bought one recently. It builds into a beautiful model but is hard work. The kit is so old that the crucial part numbers on the sprue are hard to read. There are many small parts which fit poorly and are easily lost or broken. The ratlines have to be made from scratch and the rigging is almost impossible to do as the masts are too weak to take the tension on the lines. I would recommend this kit only to highly skilled and experienced modellers. I would guess that many people who buy it won't be able to finish it because it is difficult to build ,paint and rig.

If you buy this, which is awesome, make sure you assemble the sails on the masts before you fit the masts onto the deck, fitting the sails afterwards is extremely difficult.
