I initially purchased a 3 inch x 5 inch version last year. Bebop has a very large main cage and a same heavy gauge constructed "travel" home. The small size is perfect for his travel home. I took the opportunity to get the medium size unit for his main home.This "medium" 4 inch x 7 inch unit is quite larger and perfect for his main home. Both heater units work faithfully and provide a perfect amount of safe heat whilst being quite sturdy and pretty much impossible for Bebop to destroy in his curiosity. Whilst Bebop took a day or two to get used to the small unit last year, when I opened the package for the new larger unit, Bebop became excited and recognized what it was immediately. Bebop knew just what to do this time around and is very happy with the larger unit.I mounted the heater unit at an angle which Bebop likes better when he sits with it. It is high up in a branch perch ... at night I drape a thin blanket over the upper area of his home which catches and collects the heat for cold nights. Your parrot will probably do what Bebop does - he sits closer or further away a few inches depending on his own comfort.In my opinion as owning the small and medium size of these heaters, your parrot will learn to love it and you will rest easy knowing there will be good, safe heat for your buddy bird.The heater is well made, logical, and perfect. 100% approved by Bebop the parrot!

Very easy to put inside my Greys cage and run the cord that hangs outside out of reach over to the electric outlet. I tested the warmth and it’s perfect. It gets really cold in my house and I’ve been leaving an electric heater on in the room that has my African Grey. This bird warmer will help once she gets over being afraid of it. It’s only been in her cage for a few hours and she is preferring to perch away from it. I’m happy with the temp of this warmer.I have to admit I was worried after reading some of the reviews. Some said you couldn’t tell anything and there were a few that said to watch out it gets way too hot. Well mine is just right. I can definitely feel the warmth from it. I will check it every day though to be safe. If she decides she likes it I will update my review.I like that it’s there if she needs the warmth. I would definitely purchase the largest no matter how small my bird is because the temp is warm only. I love this bird warmer.UpdateThe warmer I’ve checked every day. It’s perfect. One day when I was checking it the warmer was cold I thought oh no it quit working. Well it was my fault I moved her cage cleaning forgetting about the warmer and it had come unplugged.The best news is that she sleeps by it now. It took 2 weeks of her refusing to get close to it and some time for her not to be afraid of it. She’s a happy bird now I can tell she likes it she huddles really close to it now and closes her eyes.When I try to take a picture of her sleeping next to it of course she wakes up when she senses I’m lifting the camera up little stinker!Very happy with my purchase.

Great heat source for my birds. My house struggles to stay warm so having these in the cages helps. I keep them plugged into a battery backup incase of power failures and I feel like these would give me a buffer somewhat before the temp drops way low.

This is our third heater. Second one (back up) stopped working but the first one is still heating like a champ. This third one isn't as warm but works. Birdie loves it and keeps her warm. We use it in summer with A/C on, too.

There’s a window close to the cage so they can see outside during the day, at night with low temps and drafts kinda cold spot.I was using a regular heating pad, the birds chewed up the plastic on it so wanted to replace with something better.Found this heating element for birds, gave it a try, I got the bigger one as I have two birds. Placed it where they always perch to sleep on the side by window.Only took them few minutes to inspect and realize it’s warm, they cuddled up by it right away.The product seems durable, it only has one constant temp but seems to be just right. Had it installed in 10 secondsSo far it’s a good product keeps my birds cozy

I liked that I it warms up nicely and seemed fine. That is until I looked behind the cage where the wire was. The vinyl/pastic that covers the metal cable was chewed off and worse of all my Indian ringneck chewed through the exposed wires. Check out the picture. If I had used my head when I installed it I would have returned it immediately. There may be steel around the main part of the wire but this black rubber like covering was all chewed up and my little stinker had chewed through the wire and exposed the copper filaments. Thank goodness it was low voltage, but still. She did not pull the wire out of its casing. It was like this from the start. Take a look at the seller's own pictures to see that there is a big gap between the steel casing and the heater box itself. Doh!!Off to e-waste it went. I purchased as a replacement the "Colorday Stainless Steel Snuggle Up Bird Warmer 5V USB Large 4"x7" ". Much better construction. Very happy with that product.If your bird is not curious and doesn't wander around checking everything out, when you're looking and when you're not, then you should be fine. Otherwise, this is a death trap.

My birds love these heaters. During the winter they snuggle up against them. They are not hot to the touch and put out the perfect amount of heat.
