Brecknell Low-Profile Floor Scale - 1000 Lb./454 Kg. Capacity

I purchased this scale for a medical (human) clinic. I was worried about seeing older patients with balance problems and younger patients with fractures teetering on the small human scales. This is a good size, fits in a wide hallway without blocking traffice and is very sturdy, stable, and unobstrusive. As a tech in our clinic said, "You're scale's a hit!"

I bought this to weigh my show pigs... Very nice scale.. Digital readout is very nice.. Built very well.. Only thing I recommend to do is get some grip paint or a rubber mat as the diamond plated steel is slippery.. Great purchase! Thanks!

I have been trying to be a little more responsive in the food department, so I thought that getting a food scale would help me gauge portions a little better. First things first, this is huge! I have a little apartment, and the scale basically takes up the entire floor of the kitchen. From the picture in the product description, I thought that this would be able to fit on my counter, (and for the record what animal is that? Some type of weird mouse?) Worst of all, it doesn't have the sensitivity to measure grams like I need. Total fail.I think that something like this might fit my needs a little better...Digital Hanging Scale - 2000 lb. I have been using the Salter Brecknell P1000 for over a year with outstanding results, so you can imagine my excitement when Salter Brecknell announced the PS1000. Well, let me be the first to tell you that the PS1000 is no P1000.Yes it will stand up to the test of weighing llama after llama, but as soon as you introduce alpacas to the scale, the cpu heats up considerably and discolors the white display area to an unsightly pinkish-brown. I contacted Salter Brecknell regarding this problem, and after being escalated to Advanced Technical Support, I was able to update the firmware and fix the problem. Unfortunately the display area is still discolored.If you don't mind going through the 37-step process for updating the firmware, go for the PS1000. Otherwise I would stick with the P1000 until they release the P1100.

The max weight of 1000lb is thoroughly inadequate for larger dromedary and bactrian camels. Just save yourself the trouble and get the 2000lb model.

Great scale for the price, but the lubricating fluid leaks around the four base corners and has stained our tile permanently.

Here's a secret about the world of large animal veterinarians: until now, big scales have been expensive and poorly built. So it's fallen to the vet's assistant, or "footsman," to weigh the animals. They're called "footsmen" because they determine the weight of the animal by--you guessed it--having it step on their foot.Last week, we had to weigh a massively bloated dairy cow. After coaxing it up onto my assistant Dennis' right foot, Dennis (who is usually very reliable) peppered his estimate with so many harsh expletives that it was impossible to obtain an accurate reading.Thank goodness, then, for the PS1000. Salter Brecknell bring accurate, pain-free weight measurement to budget-conscious vets, and we couldn't be more pleased. Dennis is happiest of all: he'll no longer have to practice his yogic pain breathing, swallow enough Advil to fill a goldfish bowl, or search through thrift stores for tasteful clown shoes.(He does need a new job though.)
