So realy its just the same and a better deal than the short versions. You can get Solar Powerd ones that use Rechargable Batteries, unfortunately they are £70 to £85 at the moment. Avoid the Black Plastic Ones the cheap plastic lasts only 6 months and water leaks out everywhere.After using thease for years I've the following advise, put a Screw Ring in a Wooden Post to take the Spike? This gives you a Set Height? At the End of the Season when Autumn /Winter Frosts are Lkely you can TAKE UP THE SPRAYER and Keep it inside your shed Untill MARCH Time, Also in conjunction with the Screw Ring, use some 22mm pipe Lagging to protect the Water RISER TUBE from surprise frosty Snaps. The CABLE TIE around the Lagging and wooden post holds the top of the Defender Securely Verticle.DONT OVER TIGHTEN the cable tie so it cuts through the lagging ? Just pull it finger tight and snip off excess. I have also replaced the Threaded Plastic Reducer with a Brass one and the plastic Sprayer as they always SPLIT after a Few Years. I cut down an Aluminium Sprayer Head as I need it fixed, Not Rotating 360°. Note I un did the Tube and fitted a piece of Black Rubber Tube to stop the head popping up and Down and stop it easily Rotating, otherwise yo can just fit a standard aluminium 360°. Please note the filter into the head Unit if water stops gushing out the jet, keep the Cone upwards or it reduces the water flow. Clicking and continuous water flow? Remove batteries, undue six Phillips 2 screws and remove back cover, top left corner above eye sencer, the two bare COPPER Wires onto the Solenoid must not touch or jump across each other ? Re adjust their position, refit the back cover and problem solved.
