First reaction: this is an important book to read and to pass on to others! This book is written in a fictional story format with multiple supernatural events that would cause someone to perhaps discount the core truths that it contains. Discounting the book main points would be foolish. If a person actually researches the historical events and documents referenced in the story, one is overcome with the sweep and power of real supernatural forces moving at the national and international level. When I was recruited into Federal service from private industry after 9/11, I saw much of what the book speaks of and was troubled but did not pull the threads together as the book did. The Harbinger presents a compelling argument based on actual facts of why in almost every area of national power and well-being, the United States is rapidly slipping from a historically unheard of preeminence of power and influence to a position of mediocrity and increasing risk of national collapse. The root cause identified is moral failure directly tied to the breaking of a covenant with God established at the founding of our country. In keeping with the principles outlined in the 28th chapter of Deuteronomy, the United States received blessings by establishing and keeping a covenant with the God of the Bible, and we are now receiving curses by rejecting of God’s moral authority, as understood in the Judeo-Christian context, from all elements of our national life (government, arts, education, business, etc.). The book presents events of 9/11 and its aftermath to posit that the United States was called to repent and rather arrogantly rejected repentance in parallel to how ancient Israel was called to repent and ignored increasingly potent warnings to "go its own way." The claims the book makes are shocking but are they true?. How do we evaluate the central claims of the book? Assuming the reader believes in the God described in the Bible, to answer, we need to answer three questions: Was America established with a covenant to be a “Christian” nation? Have we rejected God? and, Are we now suffering the Biblical curses listed in the Old Testament? If the reader believes that the answer is yes to all three questions, then the most important question is “how do we bring repentance and change in America?” Was America established with a covenant to be a “Christian” nation? This is often vigorously denied by people who believe that there is no God or generally believe that the commands of God do not have any moral authority in our lives, perhaps to avoid the implications that we have broken faith with God and thus deserve the punishments that come upon us. There are many organizations and "experts" that can argue either side in detail, but I would say the answer is a definite “YES”! Three example primary historical sources that I would point to that demonstrate that we were established as a covenant nation are the Mayflower Compact, the Declaration of Independence, and George Washington’s farewell address. 1) Mayflower Compact (stating that the colonists made a covenant to form a “civil body politic” to advance the Christian faith), says, “Having undertaken, for the Glory of God, and advancements of the Christian faith and honor of our King and Country, a voyage to plant the first colony in the Northern parts of Virginia, do by these presents, solemnly and mutually, in the presence of God, and one another, covenant and combine ourselves together into a civil body politic…” 2) Declaration of Independence (stating at the moment of national independence that our rights come from the Creator God) When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation. We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights… 3) President George Washington’s farewell address (demonstrates the importance of belief in God and Morality the founding fathers had at the time the Constitution was implemented and their belief that it was to be a part of political life). “Of all the dispositions and habits, which lead to political prosperity, Religion and Morality are indispensable supports. In vain would that man claim the tribute of Patriotism, who should labor to subvert these great pillars of human happiness, these firmest props of the duties of Men and Citizens. The mere Politician, equally with the pious man, ought to respect and to cherish them. A volume could not trace all their connections with private and public felicity. Let it simply be asked, “Where is the security for property, for reputation, for life, if the sense of religious obligation desert the oaths, which are the instruments of investigation in Courts of Justice?” And let us with caution indulge the supposition, that morality can be maintained without religion. Whatever may be conceded to the influence of refined education on minds of peculiar structure, reason and experience both forbid us to expect, that national morality can prevail in exclusion of religious principle. "It is substantially true, that virtue or morality is a necessary spring of popular government. The rule, indeed, extends with more or less force to every species of free government. Vitale Supreme Court Decision (370 U.S. 421) that determined that it is unconstitutional for state officials to compose an official school prayer and encourage its recitation in public schools public schools, it was commonly understood that we were a “Christian nation” At that time the United States was coming to the pinnacle of a long period of national ascension. Following that Supreme Court decision, a long string of court decisions, executive orders, laws, and regulations have continually driven any hint of Christian belief from the public square. The Establishment Clause (Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion), meant to protect religious institutions from the Federal government has been used to restrict them instead. And the “Free Exercise Clause” of the First Amendment is more and more narrowly interpreted. Even Christian Chaplains in the Military Services are now actively discouraged from using the name of Jesus in prayers. Are we now suffering the Biblical curses for national disobedience listed in the Old Testament? This is a complex question but I again I believe that the answer is yes. The “curses” of national disobedience are listed in many places in the Old and New Testament and Deuteronomy Chapter 28 is likely one of the most extensive lists. It says to those who reject God commandments “all these curses shall come upon you and overtake you.” The list is long and can be read for itself. Interesting that the various Old Testament lists of the effects of disobedience to God cover several things that only have really taken off since the 1962 Engel v. Vitale Supreme Court Decision banning school prayer. For example, the US now leads the world in per capita prison population that is increasingly being used as slave labor; and a diverse set of other negative trends are growing in intensity; “Mad Cow” disease and other diseases such as the “wasting disease” hitting deer populations; school shootings; abortion; drug use and the rapid increase in mental health issues; massive government and personal debt; dangerous, invasive species of animals; rampant Sexually Transmitted Diseases, such as HIV; loss of control of our borders with the mass of illegal aliens, loss of an industrial base, theft of intellectual property, weakening of our military, being hated more and more around the world. On national lists of health and well-being, we are continually slipping in our global ranking. Additionally, a long list of enemies are building up stocks of weapons of mass destruction that could quite possibly shatter our increasingly fragile critical infrastructures. Some of these enemies are publicly stating their intent to destroy us (and often Israel). What do we do in response to this book? While a thoughtful person might start working on a plan that would look like something out of the TV show “Doomsday Preppers” and some some preparations to weather on increasing number of national disasters that will visit the United States as a result of the rejection of God’s commands is reasonable, the heart of the problem is the immorality of the nation. The solution is to return to obeying God. The book ends with a call for individual and national repentance. The best place to start is to look in the mirror, get on our knees, get a Bible, read it, heed it, and trust in God. For myself, I will be ordering a few copies to pass to others. Review: Lesson for America with some fascinating history - I enjoyed reading this book and learning some thought-provoking history from it. I read it on the recommendation of a Christian friend, along with several reviews and some comments on a few reviews. Apparently the book is controversial to some because the author presents God's warning to Israel in Isaiah 9:10 as also a direct warning to the USA. The theological controversy surrounding that does not concern me. Whether the quoted verse foretells future events in the USA or not, and whether the supporting material represents coincidence or divine intervention, it nevertheless presents a valuable lesson for America: Return to God if you are to continue to be so richly blessed. It's also interesting stuff. While parts of the book are repetitious, much of the material was new and fascinating to me, especially in the last half of the book. I found the parts about St. Paul's Chapel particularly so. It's also amazing (or maybe not) that highly placed politicians have blithely quoted Scripture without bothering to check context even one or two sentences before or after, and therefore didn't have a clue what they were actually saying in their speeches. I suppose the positive to that is at least they were still willing to occasionally use a passage from the Bible in recent times. The book is written as a fictional story about a writer who meets a prophet. However, the historical material presented within the story is, according to the author, fact, and the book has many reference notes. The few things I took the time to check were true. Personally, I did not feel that the author was making the controversial claims alleged in some reviews. I recommend reading the book, taking its lesson to heart, and deciding for yourself whether the controversy is important or not.

Absolute MUST read for every person who lives in the United States
EXCELLENT Book!!!!! My sister gave us this book and the Mystery of the Shemita. We had never heard of them before. Hubby read the Harbinger and could not stop talking about it while reading it. He kept wanting to tell me about the book, but since I had planned to read it after him, I didn't want him to spoil it for me. Every day he shook like a hyper Chihuahua dog because he wanted to talk about it so badly! Well, at least that was what it seemed like to me. When he finally finished the book, I finally got my turn at it. WHOA...... Unbelievable book. I could not put it down. It gave me goose bumps. It is written as a "story", narrated by the main character most of the time. But the details contained in the story are real and factual. A simple search on Google will confirm the details. Your own memory of recent events (9/11, the stock market crash, the fall of Lehman Bros, the housing crash, etc) will be a confirmation for you that the details are real. I never realized how these details were all related. But once the ducks were all in a row, it was impossible for me to deny. Once you read the book, you can decide for yourself if the author is on to something. My husband ended up buying this book on Kindle, as well as the Mystery of the Shemita, even thought the books were given to us for free. He then bought the "The Harbinger Companion With Study Guide: Decode the Mysteries and Respond to the Call that Can Change America's Future- and Yours" on Kindle. He said it too was really good. I am now reading the Companion book. It gives a lot more details of these current events. I'm glad I'm reading it. The "story" is simply the vehicle upon which to convey what the author wants to tell you. I felt the "story" format made the book easier to read. There are hard to deny truths in this book. Look back at our recent history, and it will make you shiver.

Johnathan Cahn really knows his stuff!I almost did not read this book,because I was told it was fiction,and I only read The Word of God,and those books that are good for teaching,books which the Holy Spirit directs me to. However,I felt led to purchase this book,and Oh! have I learned from it. I can see exactly why the Holy Spirit led me to it. Let me tell you about it,without disclosing the whole entirety of the book,as that is something you should find out to your own delight: When I say,"This book is NOT Fiction, aside from the fact that the truth is woven around three fictional characters!" You'll see what I mean,as you really begin to get into this intriguing,well-written historical saga. Johnathan begins drawing you into the story the moment you open the cover,and you play innocently right into his hands,as he gives you that "hook" at the end of each chapter,with everyone becoming just a bit more intense than the last,the suspense building,and building until you are simply "compelled" to keep on turning those pages,and find out what happens next. This book,though partly built around several fictional characters, is built on the Bible prophecies which Ancient Israel,who by then had ignored God's advice from a few generations earlier,yet written down, they had His Word,as we do,so they had no excuse,as we have no excuse.(Actually the heavens show His glory,and even His Godhead,including the Trinity,so there would still be no excuse,even without the written Word.) He said to Israel,"I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death,blessing and cursing:therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:"(Dt.30:19)It begins in America where the Harbingers,or warnings which God gave Ancient Israel 3,000 years ago,warnings that she neither saw nor heard, are now surfacing with the long,long ago historical backings of the facts that Israel turned against God,and went aside to her own devises,and began worshiping other nations idols. And Israel,not heeding was destroyed. Israel had the protective hedge God's blessing's had placed around them for so long,and nothing could touch them,no other nation could harm them,until Israel began transgressing against God's laws,ignoring the prophets,and to them they said,"The bricks have fallen,But we will rebulid with hewn stone; The sycamores have been cut down,But we will plant cedars in their place." They believed they would be strong IN THEMSELVES,WITHOUT GOD...JUST LIKE,amazingly,AMERICA,and if you have never believed that America is,or has been,like Israel,a "BLESSED" nation,READ THE BOOK! The history has been meticulously researched having to do with every part of this finely woven detailed story, which is filled with so much truth,it will shock you,especially when you become aware that the Bible says,"thou art snared by the words of thy mouth,thou art taken with the words of thy mouth." So are you curious what these Harbingers are that have been manifesting in America? READ THE BOOK! And what has been SAID and SAID,that has SHOCKED me,having to do with the coming about of these Harbingers?!READ THE BOOK! Even if you are NOT an American,do yourself a favour; READ THE BOOK! It will be one of the best books you will read all year,if not in years and years. Get this: I was so very "into" this book,that my Brit husband wanted to hear what I was reading. I thought that I would probably read him a few pages,and he would lose interest,and nod off,as he usually does with most of the books I am reading that he asks about,but not so with The Harbinger. He was riveted from page one,as I backed up,and read it to him outloud from the beginning,and we ended up finishing the book together the next afternoon.Many parts of this book are AMAZING;while the ending is a stunner! All I can say is that I do not recommend many books personally to people,not in these very End Times, when we must be so careful what we read,when I even had a dream to that effect(being shown tons and and and tons of "books on every Christian subject imaginable-the gifts of the Holy Spirit,The End Times,everything,and the Lord said,"These books are of Satan". I was not surprised that there was books that were supposed to be Christian,but were actually not of God at all. I was shocked at the sheer number of them,as the number of them was almost overwhelming.) Please be careful what books you buy nowadays,as we are living in perilous times,[read what the books of Hebrews,2 Tim 3,and 2 Thess.2,plus what Jesus has to say about the love of many growing cold and false Christs,and teachers,also. It's actually throughout the Epistles.As Christians,we should always pray for guidance. The Bible tells us we have the witness,or unction of the Holy Spirit. If you buy the book without the Spirit's guidance,make certain,you have the witness of two or more scriptures saying the same,as what you are reading in the book. If you cannot find those "two or more witnesses" that the Bible calls for having to do with proving true any doctrine you've seen in a book,then accept the Word of God,which is God's Word,forever settled in heaven,over man's word,any day. We accepted man's word long enough! God is not a man that He should lie...His Word has always proved true and always will! Amen,So Be IT! This is not in any way just a book to read on a rainy day. This is not an easy book to follow with its nuances, surprises of change or direction. This is a “CHALLENGE” for all true Believers who claim to be “Son’s or Daughter’s of God”. Redeemed by the Sacrifice of Yeshua, Son of God. Who shed His blood and gave His life for all sinners that they may be redeemed. Who was Resurrected to defeat death, and bring mankind its one hope for an Eternity in Glory. To bring hope where there was despair. Courage in the face of an immense and savage future.
