Can I use in copper water supply lines (drinking water)?

This is lead-free solder, but it has silver in the solder which will make it more expensive for a water solder joint. The chemical makeup is Tin 94% and silver 6%. This solder is used most commonly in refrigeration/air conditioning applications. If you want to use for potable water Harris recommends their speedy solder SPDY61 1/8" x 1# spool

Can this be used instead of brazing to to replace a residential fridge compressor

This is can be used instead of brazing if the discharge (high side) line doesn't get too hot. It for sure is good for the suction (low side) line. It was used for many years on all the lines (high & low side) of refrigeration systems using R12 refrigerant with water cooled condensers where high side pressures/temperatures don't go above 125 degrees F.
