Amazing Plug and play switch to expand home network.
I needed a switch to expand the amount of devices I have hardwired in my home network and this has been perfect for what I needed. It’s small, made of metal and feels extremely robust. The package comes with the unit and the power supply only so no cables included on this one. I’ve got this plugged in with my router sitting on top and have had no issues so far with heat or interference. There is no heat being transferred through the case and I feel very comfortable with it being plugged in all the time. For installation, this is a plug and play device which requires no management. Plug a cat6 cable into one port on the device and the other end into a free port on the router and then lead your other devices into any of the other ports. It’s worth noting that if you’re buying this switch and have gigabit Ethernet, you will need at least Cat6 cables to get the highest speeds. The size isn’t much bigger than a ps5 game game and comes in a nice black/blue colour. Overall I’m very happy with this and have seen zero issues so far and will update this review again if this changes. Definitely recommend for the price!

Plug and play for my home network
An excellent mid range Ethernet switch. Works extremely well and has no issues managing my home network without any loss of signal. I’m by no means a computer or network wizard so can’t go through all the packet and data loss malarkey but I can honestly say, having just branched out and set up a home network, I simply plugged this in, connected the router and a few devices to the switch along with all the patch cables going to sockets and it worked perfectly. Very simple to set up, comes with screws and raul plugs for wall mounting or can be desktop set if required. More than happy with the product and the price is very reasonable in my opinion.

8 Port Gigabit Network Switch
The NETGEAR 8 Port Gigabit Network Switch (GS308) is a reliable and efficient networking solution that offers excellent performance and ease of use. As someone who values a fast and stable internet connection for both work and entertainment, I've found the GS308 to be a valuable addition to my home network setup. One of the standout features of the GS308 is its Gigabit Ethernet ports, which provide lightning-fast wired connections for devices such as computers, gaming consoles, smart TVs, and more. With eight ports available, I have plenty of room to connect all of my wired devices without sacrificing speed or performance. Setup is a breeze with the GS308. The switch comes pre-configured out of the box, so all I had to do was plug in my devices and connect the switch to my router using an Ethernet cable. There's no need for complicated software installation or configuration, making it perfect for users of all experience levels. The compact and sleek design of the GS308 is another plus. Its small footprint allows it to fit easily into any home or office environment, whether placed on a desk or mounted on a wall. The sturdy metal housing not only adds durability but also helps dissipate heat, ensuring reliable performance even under heavy usage. In terms of performance, the GS308 delivers blazing-fast speeds and low latency, making it ideal for bandwidth-intensive tasks such as gaming, streaming, and file transfers. Whether I'm downloading large files, streaming 4K video, or playing online games, I can count on the GS308 to provide a smooth and lag-free experience. Another feature that I appreciate about the GS308 is its energy-efficient design. The switch automatically adjusts power consumption based on network traffic and cable length, helping to reduce energy costs and minimize environmental impact. Plus, the switch is fanless, so it operates silently and won't disturb me during work or sleep. Overall, I highly recommend the NETGEAR 8 Port Gigabit Network Switch (GS308) to anyone in need of a reliable and high-performance networking solution for their home or small office. With its Gigabit Ethernet ports, easy setup, compact design, and energy-efficient operation, it's a must-have for anyone looking to upgrade their wired network infrastructure.

Excellent product - so long as you don't get storms...
These things are excellent - work well, reliable and simple to use. I have four netgear routers of different types in my home network which covers two large buildings. Very rarely, they need a reset when the network slows down - once or twice a year, so more reliable than other brands I've used. However, I live in an area subject to storms, and the house sometimes gets struck by lightning. Every single time it happens, despite the mains distribution board tripping, and/or overload/surge switches on extension sockets these are connected to tripping , the power supplies get fried. Only on these devices, and every time. The power supply can't be repaired, and costs about the same to replace as buying a complete new switch with power supply, so as here, I replace the entire thing. This is only necessary because the replacement power supplies are not sufficiently robust and are overpriced as a spare part - frankly I think Netgear should replace them free of charge. Anyway, for that reason, 4 stars not 5. If you don't get affected by storms, you'll be very happy with this product.

Great quality, reliable switch
I'm very happy with my unmanaged NETGEAR 8-port Gigabit Ethernet Switch in black. I was swaying between this and the equivalent TP Link one. The NETGEAR is very well built, reliable, silent, runs the ports at 1 Gigabit (or more) per second, and has power saving features for idle ports. Highly recommended, and I would buy it again.

Simple and effective
This is as plug-and-play as it gets. Connected a port from my router to this switch using a good quality cable - full 500mbps rock-solid broadband speed to all devices connected. It's unmanaged so no control over the network traffic, but in the home, that's usually what you want. Uncomplicated, and just works.

STABLE SPEEDS - NO APP IS STRICTLY NECESSARY
BACKGROUND: I have one RJ45 plug-in in my flat (my internet is included in the rent). I used that to connect my PC and my TV - one at a time, though. I had to exchange the cables whenever I wanted to watch a film on the TV (Prime video, Netflix, iPlayer, etc.) or vice-versa. That could be time-consuming - and nerve-wrecking - besides, you will need two connections going to sign in to some Apps (iPlayer for example). If you keep doing this, you might end up damaging the RJ45 plug or the wall outlet (...) First, I tried a RJ45 plug splitter (it did NOT work at all). Then I went for a switch. The NETGEAR5. It DID work! So far, so good! Five stars! With the NETGEAR switch, I don't need to keep plugging and unplugging cables. That, was the idea. Q: You may wonder if the switch will cause a drop in the upload/download connection speeds. A: It does not seem to. It remains sensibly the same. Indeed, the "stability" seems to improve with the NETGEAR 5 device on. See the photos (data applies only for my specific connection). The photo on the left shows the data for the connection with NETGEAR5 ON. On the right, without it. All factors remaining constant, the figures suggests the stability of the connection increases with NETGEAR5 ON. Google for "my internet speed" if you wish to test yours. Q: Are these upload and downloading speeds fast enough to watch a HD film? A: Yes! And almost Ultra HD (which requires 20Mbps). An HD film requires around 5 Mbps or fewer. Q: Do you need to download the NETGEAR APP for the switch to work? As per instructions? A: No! Only if you want to register the product with NETGEAR, I guess. I might try to register with the App, but from what I have gathered here (review) it may not be as straightforward as it seems. One thing is for sure. The switch will work fine with or without the App. Whether you register it or not. Well, mine does (...) ; ) I hope this helps.

Great little unmanaged switch for home use.
Great switch. Provides the extra connectivity I needed between a Xbox and work laptop. No degradation to internet quality. Quite small and basic, but looks very nice and has a nice weight to it. Metal casing looks professional and feels good quality.

Came with UK adapter
Despite that I bought this item via amazon.SE inside EU, it came with incompatible AC plug(I guess UK variant). Therefore I cannot use it. I think that it violates the Low Voltage Directive or alike.
