It was a gift for someone but I got to use it too!
This was a gift in trade kind of deal with a good DJ friend of mine. He and I have djed on it together and that is exactly the reason to get the SL-4. We could plug 2 laptops and 4 decks in at one time and just let loose on it!! It is definitely the perfect thing for clubs and bars to have so djs can switch computers between sets without dead air or errors. I used to have a SL-1 and now I have my friends old SL-3 and everything i've had from Rane Serato has been awesome. The closest you can get to traditional dj feel with lots of modern extra features :)

SL4 a must buy for the mobile DJ
I was having second thoughts about shelling out this kind of money for a Serato Box after al is it really that different than the lower end ones and the short answer is yes its awesome to be able to change out laptops on demand makes multiple DJ gigs a breeze

Kernel Panic!!
I had been using my SL1 for about 5 years without any major issues. I decided to upgrade for the superior sound quality and ability to connect 4 decks. Overall the unit functions as promised. Recording is clean and the music does sound better however there is one major problem for me. If you are running OS X Snow leopard, Lion or Mountain Lion SL4 will crash your Mac if you plug the unit in after starting Scratch Live. The only workarounds are to remove the Asio drivers or plug in SL4 and then launch Scratch Live. I was told that this should be fixed in the next release of Scratch Live but for now the "Kernel Panic" issue is very real. This was a big disappointment for me. If you don't need 4 decks I would suggest saving yourself some money and headache. Go with the SL3. (FYI I'm running Scratch Live 2.4.3 on a 2011 Macbook Pro i5 2.3 Ghz 13" and a Late 2009 Dual Core 2.53 Ghz 15" both on Mountain Lion.)
