A Harvest of Hope (Song of Blessing Book #2)

great as always, a little iffy depending ones beliefs
The romance in this one is between 2 unequally yoked, all be it lovable, individuals and has a melding of Lutheran and Anglican …. depending on how strongly you feel about this issue … it may cause a bit of frustration (hence the 3 star rating) THAT BEING SAID … excellent writing, great story line, up to par with the rest of the Blessing books, I will enjoy continuing to read the series!!!

Snelling continues to write a winning series
Another great book in a great series by Lauraine Snelling. She always leaves room for more to come in the next book. Lauraine started this series several years ago and, initially, stopped it at five or six books (can't recall exact number). Since then she has added more books in series of 3, 4 or 5 books and I hope it never ends. Perhaps we are most enamored with the series because we lived for 15 years within just a few miles of this fictional town. The author is spot on with culture of the people and the area but over the several series tends to get some minor things confused - such as the direction of the railroads. Our only gripe with all of this series and we will admit that is is exceedingly minor is that the author constantly spells the word 'recipe' (ingredients of a food item) as 'receipt'. This must be deliberate as it appears in almost every book several times and no proof reader would miss it so often. She must use it as some sort of test as to whether you have ever read the books. LOL. Keep on writing Lauraine and please make it faster. We have already read the seventeen or more books at least three times over the past 10 years.

It's always fun to get back to the Bjorkland family
It's always fun to get back to the Bjorkland family. This is one of the best of all of the series. Ingeborg struggles against the pit that she dealt with in the first series Red River of the North. Elizabeth has health issues that force Astrid to carry most of the medical load.. Unfortunately, one of the townspeople is acting in a way that belies the town name of Blessing. Thorliff is leaning to trust God and to wait for His answer in a certain situation. A near tragedy in the town pulls everyone together but causes problems for Astrid. Manny becomes another of Ingeborg's adopted grandchildren along with Emmy. Freda still refuses to have much to do with the town and Ingeborg has no idea why. Do Trigve and MIriam eventually get together? Sorry, I'm not gong to give that away, but the end of the book is special. My problem is that there are too many discrepancies. Elizabeth did NOT nearly die giving birth to Inga. That was her only normal and problem free pregnancy and birth. In this book, Anner Valders has a right hand. He had lost his right arm up to the shoulder in a threshing accident many years ago. Manny asked why Benny didn't have artificial legs. At one point he did because Astrid checked them and his stumps. It's almost like Ms. Snelling has forgotten what she previously wrote.

Not scriptural
I was not happy about the introduction of Catholicism! I feel it was separating people apart. Catholicism is not scriptural. There is no where in scripture e are commanded or instructed to call anyone but our physical father and the Heavenly Father, father!!

Great Story as usual
Once again a book by Lauraine Smelling that will not disappoint you. I have read all of her books about Blessing and each one is a great read by itself. When you read her stories she will transport you into the lives of her characters, it is as if you were truly in Blessing and going through the days with each person. The struggles they face are real but when they depend on GOD to be with them they get through each one. As in real life there is death and disasters but it is refreshing to see how the whole town pulls together. It is also interesting to see all the different nationalities learn to work and respect each other. You will not be disappointed with this book.

God will always be there
I cried, I laughed and I hoped for the best. I think this has been the best of all of the books. I felt the emotions though out the story. I am really enjoying the books. I am a romantic at heart and a believer in God talks to us. We may not recognize it on the moment

Why I read Lauraine Snelling's books.
I read all Mrs. Snelling's books. I actually lose myself in reading each book and begin to feel like I am actually part of the "Blessing" family.I love the way that she let's you into each character's heart so you get to know and understand what they are going through.I have encouraged several other people to read her books and they just loved them too.Next to Lynn Austin she is my favorite writer. If you love Christian novels you will enjoy all of her books.

Blessing indeed!
Can’t put down these books! Life and all it’s trials for loving Norwegian family and friends to build a strong community Blessing, North Dakota during the 1800s is so vividly painted. The chapters fly by as the author weaves a wonderful tale. Lorraine Snelling weaves it well. You’ll draw nearer in your Godly faith when you realize our troubles of life in the millennium is so easy compared to the daily rigors of farm life.

Blessing
I had read the first books of Blessing and then took a break but it was so good to come back to this series and to see how everyone was getting on. I'm glad you mentioned things from the past as it helped me remember who was who. It's such easy pleasant reading to do each night before I fall asleep
