We Look (Dick and Jane)

I have bought several of these book. My grandkids (3 and 5) love them. Great to learn sight words

Great for teaching young kids the joy of reading. My three year old wanted to read like her older sisters and would make up random sentences as she pretended to read some familiar stories. These books help her identify what some of the core words look like and the different ways it can come up in a print format. The word "look" can come as a "Look" or "look". After reading this a few times, she is now able to READ this book. The publishers have their series that introduce a kid to common words. Also this concept is from British Education System to have children familiarize with words and as a kid I grew up on a similar series called Peter and Jane.

Great starter reading for kids. Repetition helps!

My daughter is 7 and has been a struggling reader. She just couldn't grasp it and we've tried everything. One of my professors told me to try Dick and Jane books. She said that's what was used when she was a kid. The same day she picked the books up, my daughter was reading! These are fantastic and well worth the money. They're simple enough, the books build on previous "chapters" as you go and the pictures are so pretty. I love these and am so thankful that we were introduced to them. We literally tried everything (hooked on phonics, abc mouse etc) and this is the only thing that worked for us! I cried when she started reading "We Look" and my daughter is so proud of herself. Already picking out more to order!

I purchased these for my niece who struggles with reading. These books have helped her to read faster and to be confident as she reads. They are definitely a great starter point for reading beginners. I wouldn't buy these if you're looking for a book solely to entertain your child (who already has reading down pat). There's not much to the story. However, for a child who is learning how to read, it is exciting. My niece loves them and like I said, it has made her more confident with reading other books. She hops on my lap, excited to read these every night.

Good book for beginners.

I bought this for my nearly 5 year old pre-k granddaughter because I learned how to read with these books back in the 60's. Just as fun as I remember. New words are added to each chapter and it grows from there. She is so excited to read on her own. These site words as well as additional phonic practice will enable her to read well before she begins kindergarten next fall.

I can’t believe they are taking Seuss books off the rack and still leaving books with lines like “Look! Look, Jane. Big Dick, little Sally!” I originally got these to have my grandkids learn and read, but now they are part of a party game we play at adult parties.

great book for beginners

These books (there are many very short stories inside) were first readers starting back in the 60's at least. They're basic and very very very early readers. Good for a struggling child.

This book really helped with my granddaughters reading. She was having difficulty, when I bought these books her reading improved greatly! They are a little old school, especially the name, Dick, my granddaughter had no idea why my daughter and her husband would crack up Everytime she read the name, it caused a real stir , but is definitely a great learning tool. I remember learning with this books and enjoyed reading them as a child

This book is a stupid knock off of the original primer.

Because of the pandemic many junior and senior kindergarten children did not receive the basics when learning to read. Teachers did their best during an impossible time but there were gaps in learning that were crucial to becoming a good reader. E.G letter sounds, blends, word family words and the list goes on. Dick and Jane books were what I learned from back in the 50's and I still today love to read. I thought my granddaughter would benefit from books that were repetitive. She went from a child who didn't like to read ( bc she didn't know the words) to a child that can read as good as most second graders and it only took a couple months. I am happy that these books are still available.
