Howard Products Restor-A-Finish, Wood Stain to Restore a Finish for Wood Surfaces, Golden Oak, 16 Fl Oz, Pack of 1

Amazing! I very rarely write reviews, but I had to after using this product. We have 25-year-old oak cabinets that were looking a little worn. We searched Amazon and saw a lot of higher priced iffy products, but decided to try this since it actually said Golden Oak on it. Our cabinets look almost new! This goes on easy, makes the cabinets look great and fixes the water damage and scuffs. It works as described for less than the cost of the "big name" brands. Highly recommend!!

Nothing except total refinishing will make old, scratched, damaged furniture look new. But some products have the ability to make it look really good, and this one of those products. I used the suggested 0000 steel wool pads and poured the restorer on the pad. Wiping with the grain of the wood, applying various amounts of pressure depending on the severity of the damage. Once the first round was applied and then wiped off with a clear cotton cloth, I waited 30 minutes and repeated the process. Then did it again a third time. The product really works well, but again, it's no miracle worker.Several thoughts on the product. First off if the finish is chipped or gouged to bare wood, this will not improve that area. You need a furniture color pen to darken the wood, or use a filler and then a furniture pen and blend the area to match. Also start with a light color restorer, (I used the Golden Oak), and if that doesn't work as well as expected you can also go to a darker shade, but you can't go from dark to light. Finally the rags you use as well as the steel wool will be hazardous due to the solvent they retain. Rags with solvent can self-combust so please dispose of them properly. I suggest either soaking them in water before placing them outside in a closed garbage can or in a metal can with the lid tightly closed. I usually have a few empty paint cans from a big box store just for such purpose.The photos speak for themselves. A good product for easy refinishing to a much better finish.

This product works well on refreshing wood furniture. It adds "matching" color to scratches, scraps and dings the furniture may have picked up over the years while adding a bright shine. With some steel wool it also gets rid of stubborn superficial blemishes. The steel wool work well around all the legs/feet of furniture.I used it on my 20+ year bedroom set (bedframe, 2 nightstands, 2 oversized dressers, desk and chair). The whole set looks great. The set only had minor problems but for 2 areas. This is where don't expect miracles comes in. I did not expect this to work on my issues and it did not. One night stand has water damage and the desk has an area where the finish has worn down to bare wood (from arms resting on it while doing computer work.) I will need to sand and refinish these the traditional way. Also if you have a deep scratch/ding, it will not fill it in. It will only add color to it so it is not a noticeable.Hope this helps. This is something to use before problems get out of hand.

I have always liked Howard Products. Restor-A-Finish has certainly confirmed that again. I have a large floor that gets a lot of hard wear. ( I had 5 indoor cats.....down to two now ). I hated the thought of having to hire someone to sand and finish this 15.5 ft x 22 ft. floor. So, after reading the write-up of this product, I decided to try it first. The floor was so bad it couldn't hurt to try. I was totally amazed and blown away by the beautiful results. I had purchased 2 - 16oz. cans but needed only one. My floor is gorgeous and believe me it was badly in need of restoration. I am so very glad I tried this product and as they suggested will apply their Feed and Wax product now. My floor is oak so I purchased the Golden Oak color and it did a fantastic job. Super easy to apply...I just used a rag and elbow grease and didn't skimp on the product. My floor was really bad and now looks great.

This stuff really works. It’s not a miracle but very close. There are still scratches that were not removed but were covered to my satisfaction. Please see the difference in my dining table pics. I did not order the wax because I didn’t think I would need it. However, I am going to order it now that I am happy with the results.

Worked great, easy to use, can use multiple times. Even though it says don’t use on hardwood floors it looks amazing on the areas we used it!

tried Howard Restor-A-Finish in Golden Oak on my heavily washed out wooden door, which looked like it belonged in a haunted house. As a first time user, I applied it with a brush instead of a damp cloth, and it was super easy. In under 90 minutes, the door’s rich oak glow was restored, hiding minor scratches and faded spots. It is not perfect for deep damage, but it revived the wood’s beauty without stripping. I recommend it for quick fixes.

Excellent for restoring nice finish on wood furniture. Magically hides scratches, water rings and other small damage to wood furniture.
