Great products!
One in original package and the other not but they were both new and booted/configured fine. Shipping was fast and our network is running great. I have used other networking switches and seen brands come and go. I come back to Cisco and they just work. Would recommend to a friend!

new iteration of the venerable 2960
The Cisco 2960 series continues to be my workhorse L2 "access" switch at the day-job. The "X" is the latest iteration of this family, succeeding the 2960S. Specs are bumped up, IOS 15 ships standard, the power and rack footprint are slightly reduced, but it's overall a modest revision unless you use stacking. Here's a quick rundown of changes / highlights:* Faster backplane: 95.2 Mpps vs 65.5 mpps in the S-24TD-L* Forwarding bandwidth: 108 Gbps vs 88 Gbps in the S-24TD-L* More RAM: 512MB vs 128MB in the S-24TD-L* IOS 15 instead of IOS 12 (similar to identical in usage)* Physical redesign: slightly smaller (in rack depth), lower power consumption, console jacks are on the left (front) end of the machine now, instead of the right. It remains a 2-point rackmount with rack-ears and screws included.* There's now multiple models of 2960 that support 10Gb SFP+ (including this model), but still none that support more than 2 x 10Gb* Stacking: Now uses FlexStack-Plus. If you don't mix with older FlexStack switches, that gives you a max stack capacity of 8 switches with 80 Gbps of stack throughput* These units continue to have only 1 PSU per unit (see the "2960XR" series for dual-power)* No console cable is includedThe 2960 series are an excellent, reliable, solid enterprise-grade switch with a (limited) lifetime warranty. I have no complaints about the series beyond the premium pricing, and the somewhat confusing model naming/numbering scheme. We have had great longevity with Cisco 2960s, even with heavy use in non-optimally-cooled locations. For the most part, 2960X is a drop-in replacement for the "S", even keeping to the same model names/numbers (2960S-24TD-L and 2960X-24TD-L have the same feature-set). If the 2960S worked for you, this new iteration will do the trick, and do it a little better. Recommended.
