Show baby all the wild animals in a book that’s indestructible! Who flies high in the sky? Parrot! Who strolls in the grass? Giraffe! Who hangs from a tree? Snake! Indestructibles is the trusted series for easing little ones into story time. Beloved by babies and their parents, Indestructibles are built for the way babies “read” (i.e., with their hands and mouths) and are: Rip Proof—made of ultra-durable tight-woven material Waterproof—can be chewed on, drooled on, and washed! Emergent Literacy Tool—bright pictures and few or no words encourage dialogic reading Portable—lightweight books can go anywhere, perfect for the diaper bag and for travel Safe for Baby—meets ASTM safety standards Review: Rumble in the Jungle - Jungle Rumble has lovely water color-like illustrations of various jungle creatures, (obviously). The colors are quite vibrant and jump out of the page, and I think the bright colors will appeal to most babies. I like the style of the artist, who appears to also be the creator of this series of Indestructible books along with her daughter-in-law. (Side note: The daughter-in-law is the mother of triplets and must understand that innate need that babies have to want to destroy pages of paper). I own five books from the series and will cut and paste a similar review for all five of them on desertcart. I started out with two books and immediately bought three more and my 5.5 month old baby has been using and enjoying these books since about 4 months old. I let my baby hold the book and explore it on his own and I don't do much beyond pointing to something on the page and saying, "That's a fish!" or something similar. My baby doesn't constantly want to hear a 20 page story, he just wants to hear my voice while he joyfully attempts to rip up the book. Besides being a new mom, I'm also a librarian; formerly a Children's Librarian although now I work with adults. In any case, I'm aware of the importance of introducing the concept of books early on to get little ones prepared for reading one day and to teach them that books are enjoyable. For babies, that means getting them used to feeling a book (sometimes tasting, it can be hard to get them not to do that and it's how they explore), holding it and encouraging them to look at the pictures. I completely understand the criticisms that some of the users have for the fact that these books are wordless, thus preventing the chance to make word associations and the like. But these books are just plain fun and beautiful to look at and true to their claim, absolutely indestructible, which is all I can ask for in a book for my infant. My baby regularly chews on this book and the others we own, and I have put it in the dishwasher a couple times and it's good as new. I have not tried the washing machine yet. These books are also great for sticking in the diaper bag, as they are thin as a piece of paper practically. In fact, that's my only complaint- it's too easy to lose these books if you aren't careful because they are so slim. I can see myself scooping up a bunch of stuff to throw away and having one of these books at the bottom of a pile of old papers. Also, presentation-wise, they don't look like much but I think any of the books in the series would be a great gift to a new parent because the content is so unique and I think any baby would have fun with them. Review: No words (open ended book) and great for small hands or mouths. - Great book for littles. This is just a picture book no words so it’s open ended for better and worse. Leaves room for organic interaction with the book.

Really live up to their name!!
These books are WONDERFUL for our 7 month old who constantly wants to read her older siblings' books. They are a great stand-in for a baby who really wants to taste everything - we try to keep one near every bookshelf so when the older kids start reading, we can pull out one of these for our youngest. These have been roughly handled by her older siblings, stepped on, jumped on, folded up, regularly drooled on, scrunched up, and rubbed across the floor, to name a few things, and yet, they're still as durable as when we first got them. The books are remarkably flat when you first get them, but after a bit of baby and toddler use, the only way they show wear is through folds or crumples, which can usually be refolded pretty flat. The pages stay wonderfully intact (the edges don't even fray), and the colors are as vibrant as they've ever been, even after months and years of use. Actually, I'd argue that use provides good texture to the pages and makes them feel better to curious little fingers and mouths. There are no words on any pages except the covers, so you can make up your own story, or just point out the animals or colors or whatever. Honestly, these are great for kids who aren't gentle enough for regular books (and might dissolve board books), but who are ready for story time. The one drawback we've found is that once kids learn that it's OK to eat these books, they try transferring that skill to other books... But it's a great starter book and super sturdy!! :D

Great book for my 10 month old and expecting it to grow with him
I didn't know what to expect before getting the book: I couldn't imagine what kind of paper would be washable and so durable. But it really is neat. I like that there are no words and the pictures are beautiful with great colors. I am creative so I like making up different stories. Most of all I like that my son is very entertained by it. I can sit him down with the book and it will keep him occupied for a while. He is 10 months old so he loves just bending and biting at the pages. It is now very crumpled but its no big deal. Maybe there is a way to flatten the pages but I haven't tried that yet. Good book for the young and I think it will grow with him. I am sure some day he will use his imagination to make his own stories.

They are truly indescribable!!
I love love indescribable books! Washable, chew proof, rip proof. They truly are the perfect little books. I also love that they are the in-between books to transition from hard board books to our beautiful paper books. Little one gets used to reading, turning pages and the feel of paper without worrying about tears. He is able to read chew and play with paper like texture without any worries! They can stand up to quite alot of wear and chewing safely! We have several and have been adding to the collection! The cookie monster has been through alot of chewing pulling tearing etc and is still in great shape!

Buy These Books!
These are amazing little books that every baby should have. My 7 month old LOVES them! The first one was a gift that she's been playing with since she was about 4 months old. She has chewed, crumpled, drooled, and tugged at this book nearly every day for 3 months and it's STILL whole! I ordered the Jungle Rumble and Mama and Baby editions to add to her collection. Aside from how wonderfully they hold up to your baby's antics, the pictures are beautiful! They have interesting animals, bugs, and scenes with bright, bold, and rich color. If you're on the fence let this review push you over to buying! $5 is SO cheap for a book your baby can't destroy! One other notable attribute is their ease of use for younger babies. I found that board books while very sturdy, are not as easy for my daughter to manipulate at her age. I think she likes these books so much because she can handle it easily without my help.

Overall, my son loves to play with it.
Book is wordless, when it should have included 1-2 words a page. Babies love print. I like the creative images. At times though, a greater contrast in colors from the animal to its background would help see the image better. Some of the animals seemed a tad odd. My son loves having a book that mom lets him play with and chew on. These books will get wrinkled but they are still functional and much better than giving my son a real book (which would be destroyed at first drool). The pages are too thin for my 9 month old to turn. He can only do board book page turning at this point. Overall, my son loves to play with it.

A must have for small babies and toddlers
This book is full of bright engaging pictures but the biggest feature in my opinion is that baby can explore the book themselves or with us how they want to. With most books we must remind baby not to chew, not to pull, not to rip. Let’s be honest, these are skills that can be learned later when baby is able to understand more than the “no” at the beginning of that sentence. Introducing books can be frustrating and baby will often loses forcus quickly if not allowed to explore how they must, after all, babies are new to this world and learn everything by using all senses available to them. Though my oldest (now 6) has a great relationship with book I do wish these had been available when she was very small. It has been a much more positive way to introduce my now 7 month old twins to the world of books & reading.
