Not a tornado, but exactly what it says it is!
I wasn't exactly sure what I was expecting here, but for this price, I didn't set my expectations too high, and this little champ wound up exceeding those expectations, so it merits five stars, for being just what it says, and even a bit more! I didn't expect a strong wind -- it doesn't provide one. I didn't expect the flexible stem to be too great -- it isn't. I DID expect it to be quiet, and it absolutely IS. In fact, it's noiseless, completely, so it exceeded my expectations there! I DID expect it to work on any power source, namely portable battery/charging devices that can charge USB items, and it DOES. Only drawback there is it seems to be backwards somehow on such devices, meaning, how a battery charger would seem to have a "front" to it, like where a power level indicator display or power button is found, for example, the direction of air flow is opposite to that -- not really a problem, except on chargers where having to put the charger face down, the wrong way, means it doesn't sit flat. I've solved that by standing such chargers vertically, so a flat side can be found, to be used, and, instead of bending the stem of the fan (which is fairly loose anyway) I then just keep the fan standing straight. It is very stable, and doesn't blow hard enough to knock itself over. Uses? Well, now that summer is here, I actually am using it, at times, as an added cooling aid for my laptop, but it also does push enough of a small volume of air that it can be felt a few feet away, so, like in my office, since my air con is across the room, it helps circulate cool air toward me while I'm working, and I really like that it does so in absolute silence, and I like that, using a charging device as a power source, I can put it where I want. I've hit my hand a few times on the exposed blades, and it's always a shock, of course, just the reaction. It doesn't hurt or even sting, at all, but it's just the unexpectedness of it, so I've learned to place it out of the way when using it, to avoid that self-created annoyance. I really like that it can connect to a portable power source -- I have a few back up chargers that I really rarely use, and it's actually good to be able to use them for something now, and the power drain is very slight, meaning the fan will run for hours and hours, and I don't have to take up a needed USB port on my laptop or data hub, plus, as mentioned earlier, I can put the fan wherever I want it. The flexible stem will hold somewhat of flex, if you get it just right, so, as I say, I was able to use it to help cool my laptop, using a flat charger I have and bending the stem upwards to just over a 90 degree angle, to aim the airflow at the computer. Worked great. Right now I am using it at my desk, on this hot day, just to help move air around and cool me down somewhat. I was going to get the one with the data hub, but it was sold out, and this one was less money anyway, and I'm glad I got this one, since it is so portable, in use with a charger. It's a go anywhere fan, and, while it doesn't blast a huge breeze, it is a noticeable air flow that is pleasant, so, like I say in my title, it's not a windstorm, but it is what it is, and is exactly as described. So, if you're looking for a small air circulation/cooling fan, that is noiseless and totally portable through the use of a charging device, this is definitely the fan you want! Compared to units that are desktop/USB plug in fans, that run more like twenty or even thirty bucks, this one, for eight dollars, performs just as well, and has the added benefits of no noise and extreme portability. All in all, knowing what to expect, and not thinking it should be something it's not, I have zero complaints and am very pleased with this purchase, a very low cost fan I can have anywhere, so it sure gets five stars from me! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Fanning the Flame!
Have you ever seen this message on your pc manufactures website? WARNING! To reduce the possibility of heat-related injuries or of overheating the computer, do not place the computer directly on your body or obstruct the computer air vents. Use the computer only on a hard, flat surface. Do not allow another hard surface, such as an adjoining optional printer, or a soft surface, such as pillows or rugs or clothing, to block airflow. Probably not, but that is the message I saw a few days ago on my Kangaroo pc's website while searching for something unrelated. In case you don't know, the Kangaroo is a fanless mini pc that is about the size of a 6.2 inch phone. I took this pc out of a 4 year hibernation two weeks ago to give to my parents and I've been testing it to see if it would run as well as the Zotac Zbox it was replacing. I tested it running youtube videos on autoplay. After a while the videos started slowing down, skipping and stuttering. I touched the pc out of curiosity and it was hot. Not warm. Hot! That's when I recalled the heat issues and the affect it has on the performance. So, I started looking for fans and decided on this one. I'm so impressed I started writing this review only after hours of using it. After 15 minutes or less the kangaroo is completely cool. Surprisingly cool. I tested it with the fan and without to be sure because I didn't expect these results. Without a question, this fan makes a difference. If you look at the pic I took you will see the vents are on side. Since the arm is a bit short, the only drawback I can think of, the fan is facing the back, not the vents, but it works perfectly. It does have a low hum you can hear in total silence but overall its quiet. Since you can't disable USB ports during sleep, the fan continuously runs if the computer is not completely off. I came to a compromise and switched to a 15 inch flat panel TV (not pictured) with a USB port. When the TV auto shuts off during sleep the fan powers down. Obviously I can't speak to the longevity but it does the job it is supposed to. Highly recommended!

The fan is great. It's quite and works well
The fan is great. It's quite and works well. It needs a couple things though. First off, it needs a cage. Make it removable if you need; that's fine. I need to be able to contain it within something though so I don't have to be overly concerned with sticking my finger, or a cable, or anything else into the blades on accident. Not that they'll cut me or anything. It just sounds like I stuck a pencil in a fan which can be a disconcerting sound when head in the confines of an airplane cabin. That's why I bought this unit, to cool me down while flying internationally. It works great for that. Second, it needs a simple on/off switch. I should have to unplug the thing to turn it off. That's very inconvenient, especially when it's difficult to mount it to anything to begin with. Third, a longer flex shaft would be exceptionally handy when trying to attach it to something. The thing is barely long enough to flex around anything of any size. In the end I velcroed it to a short dowel rod and stuck that in the pocket of the seat in front of me. It would have been much easier if I'd had enough flex shaft length to attach it to my arm rest. Overall a good buy. They just need to add to it to make it really useful.

Absolutely wonderful desk product. It is quiet, breezy, and everyone was surprised at how much air it pushed. Apparently a lot of people were amazed at how the product also had a steel base, since a lot of these fans don't normally have that and it seriously added it to the "premium" feel of it all. One note is that when you do buy it, you have to let the fan run at max speed for about an hour or so for the bearings or whatever it is to smooth out and get even quieter (it's still quiet even when you first turn it on). I've bought almost ten of these as these make great presents, since they're practical, looks, good, and easily puts a smile on anybody's face. The only gripe about is, as I have bought many coloured versions, is the black ones. Perhaps my luck was bad, but if you do buy a black one, always be sure to check the bottom of the gooseneck for any "Brown" powdery stuff there. It looks like rust, but I haven't really chemically tested it to be sure, but nonetheless it is sort of a turn off (If Amazon reads this, it'll be great if you can check if it's a consistent issue, but 3 of my black ones had this issue to varying degrees). In any case, this is better than so many desktop fans out there. It won't cut a finger off, it's durable, quiet, and seriously works in any interior during any season as I'm sure nobody gets the perfect temperature / cool they need. Or, for me, a breeze in the face sometimes works better than a cup of coffee.

Great Product

It does meet the requirement for cooling my surface pro 3. I also liked the fact that the seller spontaneously updated me on the shipping status. Happy with product and Seller.
