If you like to have all matching rack screws, and fresh unstripped/unscratched ones for studios (like me), I recommend these as a great value, and fine product. They don't seem to strip, are robust, and because of the "locator portion" at the end of the screw, go in quickly without cross threading. The washer is decent enough for more than one use. I've bought these many, many times for installs!

These pilot-tipped 10/32 rack screws have all worked perfectly and each one has a plastic washer already installed. The flip-top lid on the plastic jar makes it possible to open this with and retrieve screws with one hand and is much easier to use than a plastic bag.

It is a capable black screw

Perfect. Easy to finger start because of their design. Nice thick heads. Substantial washer. Look great. Price is fantastic for the quality and quantity.

I have used rack screws my entire career of 40 years, and some 10-19 screws are soft and cross thread easily. Some, without the pilot tip, cross thread immediately in modern racks. The steel in modern racks seems softer than that of the old racks, so it's important to have a screw that can almost behave as a tap. In fact, it's not a bad idea to keep a 10-19 tap on hand in your tool box, it can come in handy sometimes. These screws do seem to be hard, but the one thing I don't like about them is that the washer can easily be lost. I used to buy a 10-19 rack screw on Amazon called Raxxess, which had a great washer that held on to the screw while starting it, I loved those screws but are no longer for sale on Amazon. However, with the proliferation of cheap, soft Chinese screws on the market, it's nice to know there's still an affordable American alternative in Penn Elcom, a name that's been around for dozens of years, and not just a badge slapped on a cheapo product. So, even though the washers can be easily lost in the bowels of the rack, or roll under a piece of nearby unmovable equipment, these are pretty good screws for the money. They work smoothly in modern racks with the softer steel and hold nicely. I've seen guys complain that their rack screws didn't hold, but one thing they neglect to tell anyone is they may have only used two screws on a heavy piece of equipment requiring 4 or more. I can't imagine a screw of any ilk letting go from a rack unless the screws and the rack are made from soft steel. More than likely, they are lazy or cheap and don't put in the full compliment of screws. If you're going to skimp, skimp on fill panels and small 1 RU equipment. Don't skimp on heavy equipment like servers, 5 RU computers or exciters, UPS's etc. Put the full compliment of screws in and USUALLY, they will hold for the lifetime of the equipment. Many owners cheap out on racks and get cheap racks, which have soft steel, of course a screw might pull out. So, just be aware of the quality of the stuff you're dealing with, and chances are, you'll be OK.

These are my all-time favourite rack screws! We used to have different brands and a mix of silver and black. No more of that! Penn Elcom makes the best road case hardware, so we figured we'd try their rack screws. Unsurprisingly, we're never going back to anything else. I like the plastic washer that saves us from scratching some our more expensive rack gear. The black screw looks really good with all our equipment and racks. It's so much more professional to have matching hardware for everything!

Excellent product. Washers are all pre-mounted on the screws with an alignment tip for quick installation on the rack.

Not much to say other than these are absolutely fantastic. Zero issues, top quality, great price.

Don't get fooled by a sellers saying that there's only one standard screw in rackmounts. He made me bought screws for network rackmounts which are bigger. The 10-32 are the most standard in studio rackmounts. Musicians and studio people, that's the one.
