Can this remove rust from old cast iron?

I do not have rust on my skillets “yet”, but this thing is awesome for truly smoothing the surface of my skillets. I would think it would remove rust.

Hi, Would this be safe on stainless steel pots? Also, do food bits, eggs, etc get stuck in this or wash out of it quickly under running water? Thanks

Food bits easily fall out when you rinse/tap the scrabber. It is not very effective on stainless (you can soak in hot water and use “Barkeeper’s friend” and a regular sponge instead)

Does it harbor bacteria?

I would assume that since it is a sponge that it does. I would also assume that since after you use it on your cast iron you dry your cast iron and then put it in the oven @ 400+ degrees for 1/2 + hour that any bacteria that might have been transferred is not harmful.😎
