No need to spends hundreds on an entirely new machine. Simply purchase Chef's Choice sharpening module and slip it into the 2000 base. Sharpening knives is more efficient, faster. Pleased with this option to quickly upgrade my years-old machine.

My husband sharpened every knife in the house and it's wonderful! I think he may offer to do family members knives too. Very easy to use.

I use the module for professional knife sharpening. I use a second, cheaper machine for deburring, and then use the stropping wheels to finish. Doing this, I get some 500 knives per module sharpening mostly home damaged knives, meaning rather heavy sharpening. Knicks and broken tips are dealt with separately. A couple years ago there was a run of these modules with poor quality cubic boron nitride wheels, (not diamond, by the way)that only lasted about 200 knives. These seem to have worked their way out of inventory and the modules are now back to as before.

Great design! No need to replace the entire sharpening machine only the module. Much safer for a manufacturing company to sharpen knives versus a belt sander.

Dieser Messerschärfer ist wirklich zu gebrauchen. Er ist Spülmaschinenfest, nimmt kaum Material ab, die Messer werden sehr,sehr scharf. Man kann dieses Gerät allerdings nur mit dem Motorteil, welches separat gekauft werden muß verwenden. Dies ist nicht ganz billig, jedoch jeden Cent wert.

The unit is well built and slides into my 2000 like a glove, and works like a hot damn. Sharpens almost like it was made for it. The big reason it gets a 3 star on value for the money, is, it cost me $219, roughly, to get it, plus shipping. The only problem with my old one is the 2 pieces of plastic that wear out on the front, which let your knives go to far into the sharpener, damaging your knives. There is nothing wrong with the grinding wheels or honing wheels. The 2 pieces are not available from Chef's Choice, you have to buy the whole unit. I could not find replacement pieces for this anywhere, so I am talking to a machine shop about making them, so you may see them for sale shortly, for lot less than $219. But overall, this is a good unit if yours is broken.
