Great to remind my dog to stay in his yard.
This is great for me. It keeps my large dog out of the neighbors yard. My dog likes it too since now he's not chained up with the possibility of tangling. He's still getting used to it - right now he sits at the fence and waits for me instead of relaxing in the yard.It is very easy to put up and take down, and very flexible where I put it, so I can move it's location easily, just by going to the local hardware and buying more plastic tubes as stakes. It has two poles, one for either side of the driveway, and they easily fit into the plastic tubes which I pounded into the ground. The product is tensioned so it easily goes back by winding up. Be careful not to wind it too high or low when retracting it or the netting may fold in the tube.Yes, there is about 4 inches below my net, because I didn't put the stakes all the way in the ground. I want it up a little so if a cat enters that it can get out without my dog trying to eat it. I have a wonderful dog, he won't try to run through the fence or eat the fence. If your dog is aggressive, a digger, or determined to get out, then this fence isn't for you.I personally think the fence is fine for balls, you have to put the poles fully in the ground and it should keep anything in that is larger than an inch or so above the ground. This is a medium to light duty plastic netting, like you would use in a window screen. If you want it for kids, I'd be worried about them playing with the netting and trying to bounce off it and then hurt themselves or the netting. Get a heavy duty plastic or metal fence instead. But if you have good kids and just want to make sure they remember not to chase a ball into the street, then this should be excellent.I don't have a good feel for how long the winding mechanism will last. May or may not last a long time. My feeling is that it should last a while if I am mindful of how I rewind it every time.

A good option to keep kids out of the street, but it's not an aircraft arresting net!
We have a large concrete driveway with a bit of a slope, and I wanted something to keep balls from rolling into the street, as well as a physical barrier for the toddlers. I chose the retractable version over the plain one, as I liked the idea of being able to easily store it when not in use.It was easy to install, but I chose to use metal pipe instead of the included plastic ones. Others have said that it's tough to drive them in without the pipe filling with dirt, but I found that opening up a hole with a piece of rebar prior to driving the pipe allowed for an easy installation. There were rubber caps included to keep dirt and water out of the pipes when not in use.As far as the tension issues in other reviews, I found that slightly angling the pipes outward (as the directions call for) was enough to keep the net taut. My toddlers immediately had to test it, and while they could push it down, it has enough tension to stop them from going through or over. I'd rather have them crash into the net and skin a knee, than to fly into the street and traffic. The retraction method is a little finicky to get "just right" when rolling the net up, but if you keep tension on it you can slowly roll it up without binding. I hope that the spring tension lasts a good while, but I imagine it could be taken apart and repaired if needed.Overall, I think this was a good safety purchase for our driveway. The only reason I can't give 5 stars is that the pvc pipe included with the net is not the best solution. A metal pipe of the same diameter works much better, and it will save you a headache trying to drive it into the ground.

Great purchase!
Bought these to help keep basketballs, volleyballs from rolling onto the street. We live in relatively quite neighborhood. It was very easy to set up. We have had no issue with the quality. It works great my daughter can easily set up and put it away herself.

Sturdy
Overall, it seems to be a simple yet fairly sturdy fence to deter my toddlers from leaving the driveway. I purchased this due to it being retractable, however, it does tend to easily track up/down easily (causing it not to retract properly). It can easily be unrolled and fixed, but there may be faster retracting styles available.

Works as advertised
I live in a mobile home park, so traffic is always a concern with cars coming and going obviously, neighbors and what not, and my son is 2yrs old and when we go outside lord knows he likes to run into the "Street" of the Park, he gets a kick out of not listening, just like your kids, so in order to let him outside to play while I wash my car or work around the house, the yard or just to play in the driveway, whatever the case may be, I needed something like this, I used an Auger Drill bit to drill the holes for the PVC pipe provided in the kit made it very easy, you can probably use a regular drill bit if you have one big enough. But once that was done slipped in the pipes and rest was history, keeps him in the driveway and balls, he occasionally gets a thrill out of throwing stuff over the fence on purpose and making me go get it, but other than that it works and looks good, when we are done playing outside I remove it and put it in the shed so it doesn't get stolen, that's probably the best part, getting to remove it and store it away. Next time I'm out I will take a picture and edit and post it here.
