6 Fresh Lemon Grass

These lemongrass shoots came well packaged, and shipped quickly. They are perfect for rooting, with a nicely intact node. For those new to growing lemongrass, peel off any outer leaves that have dried a bit in shipping, trim the tops off the leaves (they smell Amazing), then put them in a jar with enough water to cover the base. Put them on a windowsill where it's not too cold, and change the water once a week so they get O2 at the node. It might take over a month for the tiniest roots to appear, but they will. The roots grow long and healthy by spring planting...just be patient and keep changing the water! I have not tried it, but I'd imagine they should root well in a hydro or aquaponic system too.

I followed the guidelines from other reviews to get the stalks to root. I have a nice kitchen window with a full day of indirect sun and no drafts. I placed 5 of the 6 stalks i received there in shallow water after cleaning up any outer fronds that were dry or showing signs of rot. I changed the water daily, and I used water only. No plant food. The stalks rooted within two weeks, and after the roots were about half of my little finger’s length, I planted them gently. I moved the lemongrass to a partially sunny area at first, giving the stalks minimal sun to avoid burn. After about 10 days, I moved then to a sunny spot with about 6 hours of sun. Now they live in an area of all day, full sun in the Texas summer heat.I had used one stalk to flavor a marinade for beef. Flavorful product. I have not cut into my newly grown stalks yet; it’s just too pretty. I want to order and grow many more soon, so I will definitely be buying more.

Came with no roots and dried up. Looks dead acts dead = DEAD, AND USELESS . DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY BY ORDERING THIS.

All the plants ended up growing so fast and it came with great instructions to care for them as well. arrived freshness, great color and size, Very happy!

Not fresh lemon grass! update on my review, i thought as many others that the plants did not stand a chance, so amazon refunded my 2$ most of the money was the 9.95$ shipping which i did not get back, plant base bulb was cut off to short than pictured and brown and black, dried out moldy, but i stuck in water anyway what did i have to lose i also used non chlorine water just let it sit out 24hrs, wet the whole plant down not just the bottom, and placed in clear glass vase not plastic it leaches ,after out side stems became soften i removed, by gently peeling off and low and behold they started taking a bulb shape more tapered look, kept water clean and saw little part growing out off top, before any roots came tiny spurt of growths in center had to look closely but yup they were in fact growing from top center and then starting getting little roots it took quite awhile but all but one grew, i put in dirt right away and taking off ever since, so don't pitch they will grow even half dead and no bottoms and black and moldy, lol

I received the stalks of lemongrass. They are very dried out. They don't even have a lemon aroma. I have recut the base and am soaking them in water. They may be too dry to even absorb the water. If there is no improvement within 10 days, I will request a refund and return them.

I use when making Thai food. Stores well in freezer.
