Aspen Pet Dog Tie Out Cable - 1700 lbs Break Strength - 30ft Cable

Great heavy-duty tie-out. I highly recom.end fot large dogs. I have purchased many different tie-outs and this the 2nd of this particular one and by far the best tie-out. My dog, Simba, is 115 lbs of pure love. And he loves to run, at a pretty good pace, to the next door neighbor's 6 ft privacy fence when they're dogs come out and happily run back and forth along the fence barking loudly all the way. When we cannot get to dog park, this routine is the joy of all tbe dog's day. A normal cable would not be able to handle a repetitive jolt like that. The reason I replaced the 1st cable id because the clasp came apart from the cable. It lasted about a year and this one I've had about 6 months So far so good. It is outside in all weather and there is a little rust on it but it is not a priblem. Know that borh the tie-out cable and the clasp are heavy. Much too heavy for a medium size dog or smaller and probably too much for the weight and bone structure of a dog like a greyhound. It is made for a full size, thick neck dog, I think. Also, the clasp opens outward not in like most clasp so you need to be able to coordinate that. No worries about the collar slipping out of the cable. For those fellow dog lovers please know that he wears a Martingale collar to lessen the stress on his neck and he only does it a couple of times a day if that. I would never do anything to put him at risk of harm.

I think the length is perfect! The clip part does rust and makes it difficult to use after a bit of time. I think the clip part should've lasted longer before rusting in comparison to other tie outs I've used, so that's why I gave this a 4 rating. It does still tangle, but it's easy to untangle. I know I'll need to replace it. I have to replace mine multiple times per year. I have a fence jumper with high energy. The tie out cables definitely get tested.

Works great for dogs, terrible if it get stuck in your lawnmower blades.

I have a 54 lb dog, Old English Sheep Dog/Poodle mix. She's very strong and goes nuts still when she sees a squirrel or anything living. The cable has held up with her pulling on it. The only thing that I was a bit disappointed with was that the first day she used it, she rolled on the ground and the latch easily came detached and she ran away (we got her home within an hour with the help of a friendly neighbor). I replaced the latch with a carabiner (I think that is the term?) that has a spin lock on it. It take 5 seconds longer to get her on and off of the cable but it works and we're happy with it. The hook/latch it came with has also started rusting after a couple months outside (I left it on the cable as I'm not sure it can be removed). I suppose that may be expected if it's on the patio floor most of the time... but just to be aware that the latch isn't necessarily all weather proof.

The Product is not as strong as described or by the look. The cable tends to bend which is not ideal for a strong cable.

We needed a new leash for our lab and this fit the bill. It’s well made and does not breakdown and fray like other similar leashes.

I was surprised at how flexible this cable is. Works quite well. Not sure how chew resistant it is though but you get a good 10 metres worth of it. The problem is that this probably shouldn't be used with big dogs who are prone to bolting at a moments notice to chase something as they have so much leeway with this cable they will build up speed and when they reach the end of it, it will be a sudden stop and could seriously hurt their neck. You could use it in a way where you reduce the lenght by wrapping it around a tree or pole etc.
