"Lines are drawn, but then they fade. For her I bend, for you I break."
Oh Colleen Hoover what you do to me .... You are a writing genius ... your words evoke more emotions out of me while reading one book then I ever thought were possible. I felt scared, heartbroken, hopeful, confusion, anger, and love. Music has always spoken to me so this book really touched my heart and soul in so many ways. I felt every single word on every single page. The characters were so easy to love, every single one of them Ridge, Sydney, Maggie, Warren and even Bridgette. This was a story where there wasn't really a bad guy. This was a story where the heart took the lead. You can't help who you fall in love with. Regardless of what your brain might tell you in the end the heart always calls the shots no matter how we fight it."There are only twenty-six letters in the English alphabet. You would think there would only be so much you could do with twenty-six letters. You would think there were only so many ways those letters could make you feel when mixed up and shoved together to make words. However, there are infinite ways those twenty- six letters can make a person feel"Sydney Blake believes that she is content, almost happy in the life she is currently living. She has a great boyfriend Hunter, an awesome roommate who is also her best friend Tori, she works in the campus library and is studying what she loves music. Even though her parents disapprove, he wanted her to be a lawyer, she is happy doing what she loves. Hunter is pressuring her to take their relationship further and move in with him, but she refuses because she wants to be her own woman and independent. However even with all the bad she is content and happy in her life right now."Lines are drawn, but then they fade. For her I bend, for you I break."She has a neighbor, Ridge, who plays absolutely beautiful music with his guitar every night from his balcony ... she gets her own private concert as she watches him every night. His music touches her and inspires her, she puts words to his music and together they create a song. But then ... everything falls apart. On Sydney's twenty second birthday Ridge tells her that Hunter and Tori her best friend/roommate and boyfriend are having an affair. What does she do ?!?! Where will she go ?!?! After a heated, face punching discussion, Sydney leaves her apartment with nowhere to go."Great. I’m crying now. I’m a purseless, crying, violent, homeless girl. And as much as I don’t want to admit it, I think I might also be heartbroken."Sydney is heartbroken, homeless, and completely desperate. When Ridge offers her a place to stay she accepts with hesitation but she doesn't have another option. As part of the arrangement Sydney and Ridge write music together. Each word, each chord, brings them closer together, night after night they write and soon a connection is made that neither one of them can deny. You see the problem is that Ridge has a girlfriend Maggie, and well there is something special about Maggie and regardless of how he feels he will NEVER leave Maggie."Hey, Heart. Are you listening? You and I are officially at war."As they write music together and develop a deep emotional bond, they battle the war within themselves to do what's right and not act on what they feel. This story is told in alternating POV's from Ridge and Sydney and does an outstanding job of relaying to the reader their feelings and struggles throughout this amazing story. So much so that when this story climaxed I was completely and utterly shattered, my heart broke, and I honestly believed Colleen wasn't going to fix it, I doubted her abilities, there wasn't enough time left in the book. NEVER doubt Colleen Hoover she will not leave you heart broken and crying into your pillow."Our souls aren’t just compatible— they’re perfectly attuned .I feel everything she feels. I understand things she never even has to say.I know that what she needs is exactly what I could give her, and what she’s wishing she could give me is something I never even knew I needed. She understands me. She respects me. She astounds me. She predicts me.She’s never once, since the second I met her, made me feel as if my inability to hear is even an inability at all."I can't tell you with words how much I loved this book ... But I highly recommend that you read it ... it is most definitely one of those books that will stick with you for a lifetime.

SPOILERS
************************* BEWARE SMALL SPOILERS******************************************I'm going to be slammed for this but.........I have really mixed emotions about his book. I didn't know how to rate it or what exactly to say about it. There was stuff about this book I LOVED and stuff about this book I HATED, so I'm just going to list them below.Lets start with the NEGATIVES........People have said this is not a love triangle or a normal love triangle anyway. A guy in love with two woman is the definition of a love triangle. It doesn't matter how clean you try and keep all 3 characters, it's a love triangle. Another issue was that these characters weren't that clean. There was an incident of cheating and a few inappropriate moments. I can see why she tried to keep these characters clean but I figure if your going to get mud on your hands you may as well roll in it. I think more between the characters might have moved the plot along. I found this story a bit boring to be honest as there was a strong attraction between the two characters but nothing really happened. We didn't get much romance or many swoon worthy moments between them. Even after they FINALLY get together there isn't a lot of swooniness!! NOW, for them to finally get together his girlfriend who he refused to leave had to dump him first. I HATE when authors do this. Why can't she be his first choice. Why cant he say, yeah I'm leaving my girlfriend for you. This always happens and I hate it. In saying that Ridge made up for it in the last part of the story with a letter he wrote to explain. I honestly didn't love too much about Ridge, I didn't find him that exciting or relatable. Now for POSITIVES.......I LOVED the music part of this book. I loved being able to listen to the appropriate songs as I was reading, although over $20 for the ebook and the album was a bit pricey. I loved how she worked Ridge's disability into the story. When he listens to Sydney sing, OMG I melted, it was beautiful!!! I loved the last part of the story when Ridge and Sydney finally work it out. It was absolutely beautiful and thankfully finished the story off on a positive for me.In saying all of the above Colleen's writing was phenomenal as always I just didn't appreciate the story that much as it wasn't really for me.Buy This Book: I probably wouldn't pay the $10 for this, although I did.Read Again: No I wouldn't read this one again.Recommend: Yeah if they could borrow it from someone maybe.
