Worked perfectly for 8 months
I have a 2009 Nissan Altima. Last Oct. my car intermittently would not start and the brake pedal felt like it had been pumped several times. The mechanic said he thought I needed a new key fob, so $250 later it turns out that's not the fix. I just happened to see a You tube video and it showed them fixing the problem with this switch. I purchased the switch and all was well for 8 mos but now it's starting again. I purchased another switch, hopefully that will fix it again. I'd love to hear if this has happened to anyone else. Hopefully it's not the brake harness that some other reviews mentioned.

I would push on the brake in order to start the car and it felt like the brake had been pumped numerous times even though ...
I was having problems starting my 2008 Nissan Altima but, was unable to locate any information online which might help diagnose it. The strange thing is that this would happen sporadically without any warning. I would push on the brake in order to start the car and it felt like the brake had been pumped numerous times even though the car had been sitting for hours and sometimes days. After leaving the car alone for a short periods of time the car would start. Frustrated and confused I took the car to my mechanic who was very confident that he could fix it. I received several calls from the mechanic and he informed me that he ran every test that he could and contacted multiple car manufacturers but, was unable to come to a solution.I brought the car home and BAM! It began to happen again. I grabbed a glass of whiskey and continued the search for a solution. I arrived at a website www.carcomplaints.com and located several other people who have had this issue. It turns out that this is very common in 2008 and 2009 Nissan Altimas. Specifically after the car hit 70,000 miles. I realized that my car had just hit 74,000 miles. One of the people on the forum related that he had taken his vehicle into a Nissan dealership and they told him that they would have to change out both the brake/switch and the brake harness. Unfortunately this service cost him $599.00. Another person on the forum said that they changed the brake/switch and the car stopped having the problem. I ordered this part which is an exact match for the car and it arrived a short time later.I could not locate a video or instruction guide on how to replace this part. I found that it was very simple however. You simply depress your brake a few inches and turn the defective brake/switch to the left. You will then be able to pull the brake switch out. You will need to remove the defective brake/switch by pulling it out of the contact. Once that is done simply reverse the process. Plug the brake/switch back into the contact and place the end with the white tip in the designated hole by the brake foot pedal. Turn the brake switch a quarter turn to the right and DONE! Press on the brake a few times to ensure that the brake lights come on. You can turn it to the right if the lights are not tuned to the correct sensitivity. I have had this new brake switch in the car for approximately one month and the car is behaving normally. This will save you a great deal of money considering that Nissan dealerships will not replace only the brake/switch. They tell you that they can't gaurentee the work unless they replace both the brake/switch and brake harness.

Fixed my 2010 Altima start issues and ABS light
Worked great! My 2010 Nissan Altima with push button start stopped starting properly. Sometimes I would have to pump the brakes and keep trying to start it for 5-10 minutes. My ABS, VDC off, and slip warning lights also came on after switching into gear / driving for 30 seconds. The dash kept saying I needed to push the brake to start, even when it was depressed. It turns out there is a defect in the brake switch on several years of Altimas (and several Nissan models). I don't know if models with defective switches all have push button start or not.Regardless the defective brake switch (brake stop lamp switch) causes this problem. The stock Nissan part is ~$50, this generic is $20.The problem evidently originates with a defective wire harness that costs $250-300. To totally (and perfectly) repair this issue the dealer charges you about $600. OR you could just buy a replacement brake switch and replace it whenever it fails, which appears to be after more than 5 years or more than 50K miles. I obviously opted for this because buying $20 parts every half decade makes a lot more sense than paying $600 to the dealer to repair a defective part that should have been recalled.Install takes about 1-2 minutes. On my Altima the brake switch was the switch on the left just behind the brake pedal; the cruise control switch looks similar and is on the right. Note the rough distance from the mount / position of the current switch. Rotate the left switch 45 degrees and it will come free. Disconnect the wire connect on top; don't forget to press the retention clip while removing it. Put the new brake switch in at the same distance from the brake pedal. Rotate it 45 degrees and reconnect the wire connector. I tested my car several times to verify starting, then slowly drove around to verify brake function.Started on the first try, all the dash warning lights went out. A perfect cheap fix!

Works as intended
Our 2018 Versa stop light switch stopped working. Caused a traction light to come on. Good thing I figured out the traction light to the brake lights switch not working. Replaced switch and works as intended.Thank you

Got our Armada going again!
Replaced the factory switch that went out after 75,000 miles. Installed myself after getting YouTube certified. It’s a tight fit, but doable with no tools.

Funcional
Tenía problemas con el switch original, el carro no encendía hasta después de muchos intentos, tarde un minuto en cambiarlo y listo, funcionó para un versa advance 2015

Worked, but might be faulty…
Before I ordered this part I struggled to start my 2008 Altima like other reviewers claimed. I installed this new part and it seemed to fix my startup issue. But fast forward 4 hours later and I hear my doorbell ring! It’s my neighbour, he told me that my brake lights were still on on my car. So when I installed the part, my brake lights stayed on all that time since the install. I did not notice since it was during the day. I unplugged the switch and reseated it in the brake peddle and put the car in the garage. Hopefully the lights stay off and don’t drain my battery. I think I’ll just bite the bullet and pony up for an OEM part instead.

Worked for a year
Ordered this part for my Dad when he started experiencing starting problems on his 07 Altima. Was more affordable than what the dealership quoted. For nearly one year now (11 months), the part worked fine till just recently. Once again his car had starting problems and it has been attributed directly to this part. I personally feel its more likely that the brake itself hitting the microswitch on this part is mis-aligned and may be damaging this quicker but all we can say for now:This amazon part is not a japan factory original to our knowledge but did work fine for one entire year before failing again. We have now purchased a genuine Japanese part from the dealership for $80 and the car starts fine again without issue. I wont say this part is necessarily bad but I can just say in our experience, it only lasted a year before the microswitch (white tip) no longer has a definate click.Nothing worse than getting ready for work and having your car not start. I suggest opting for a genuine part if you can afford it. It may be nearly 3 times the price but the original switch has worked in our car for nearly 10 years. We expect the certified replacement to do the same.Upon inspection of the part and comparing to a factory original, you really couldnt tell a huge difference. Build quality looked decent but it really should have lasted longer.
