I saw the typo with the 2 vs 3 brushes. Does it come with the training book because it doesn't include it in the details of what you actually get.

Sure, you will need special paint and mabey have to purchase smaller or wider tips but yes

Can I use this on a small table without getting paint all over?

There should be no problem, I'm not sure what you mean paint all over? When using an air brush the paint comes out very fine thin spray. Air Brush is designed for intricate work.
