Tenchi Muyo OVA Collection [DVD]

Quality of product is good however_
The condition and package given was in excellent condition and worked perfectly for my region 2 DVD player. However I'm going to explain the OVA Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-Ohki a little. And why I think it's a 5/10 at best, avoiding any major spoilers. The plot high in large revolves around a young clumsy teenage boy called Tenchi Masaki. After a few bumps in the road he ends up living with an on-growing list of demon/ alien girls. So high in large becomes a slice-of-life male fantasy. In-which every girl wanting a piece of Tenchi, it's very fanserv'y. With a few space battles to narrow the monotony. The show sets up a lot of plot threads that are never touched upon in this 'complete' collection of the OVA series. And with that is very disappointing that no follow-up can be purchased. The OVA collection is only covered to a limited point with a special episode that can barely be called as much; considering it's a voiced over slide-show with little relevance to the continued plot. The OVA of Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-Ohki has actually been ongoing even now, and will so to 2021.As such this collection doesn't resolve much after the very brief Kagato arc. And just becomes a fan-service show with girls lushing for Tenchi. Overall the collection covers a total of two primary villains, one of which was a parody plot villain to deepen the romances of the slice-of-life activity.Overall the plot given in this collection is predictable, and characters range from bland to unlikable. A few get more time to shine as it comes to a close. Two characters in particular make the show watchable (Washu and Sasami) But sadly this is one of the weakest shows I've watched for sometime and not convinced even if we got a second OVA collection it would cover much ground, considering this one barely budged a mile.

Tenchi Muyo - Ovas: The Complete Series review
This UK-region DVD set contains the first 13 Tenchi Muyo Ryo Ohki (No Need For Tenchi!)! OAVs which were released on video in the UK in the 1990's, plus Mihoshi Special. Looks just like a straight port too, because the episodes & trailers have got the old-school video casette look. The dubbing is exactly the same, they kept all the same voice actors and didn't change any dialogue, which adds to the nostalgia experience. There are 4 disks, all of which have been given a remixed 5.1 Dolby Digital soundtrack. My entire family loves Tenchi. It's an imaginative hybrid of traditional Japanese folklore and futuristic mischief which has got unique warmth and strong characters which sets it apart from other animes in the harem/sci-fi vein. It's pretty safe for retro anime collectors and family viewing. If you liked this anime, I recommend 'El Hazard' and 'Photon: Idiot Adventures'.
