Snow and Ice Melter Calcium Chloride Pellets Bag, 25 lb.

I fill large tube socks with these to create channels across ice dams to keep my roof from leaking. Works great and is safe for shingles and vegetation. It does take a few hours for it to create a channel so don't expect instant results. Also remember to roof rake at least 5 feet up after every snow. Learn from my mistakes, lol.

Thanks to the record snowfall in New England this winter, I had my first experience with (10+-inch thick) ice dams on the edge of my roof. I was told (by the gentleman I hired to clear the snow off of my roof) that 100% calcium chloride was safe to put on my roof and it would not harm the shingles (unlike rock salt, which can stain and/or erode the shingles). I took him at his word and made it my mission to sprinkle the ice dams morning, noon & night with these calcium chloride granules. It started working immediately--little pock marks appeared where the granules started to sink into the ice and work their way down through the dam. The ice steadily melted (and as the granules worked their way down through the thick ice I constantly sprinkled more onto the surface so they could cycle through), and when the sun was out the melting accelerated, even with sub-zero temperatures. I used two 25-lb bags over the course of 10 days and I'm happy to say the ice dams melted and no water came into my house. Oh, yeah, almost forgot--it worked just as well on my icy brick walk. As soon as I threw the granules down, I could hear the ice (about 3/4-inch thick) start to crack.

EXCELLENT ICE MELTER. YOU MIGHT LIKE TO MIX WITH SOME SAND TO make it more economical and easier ro spread efgicirntly. .a little goes a long way used that way

Quality well-formed pellets made in USA. Ships in box via FedEx. Really quick. Bag did have some dirt and grease from being outside but I transfer to a bucket anyways.Not a bad deal considering shipping of a 25lb item. Great if you can’t get one at a store.

As usual, I have problems finding "ice melt" that is safe for use on concrete. This one does the trick...low in sodium chloride.

This really helped during an awful, awful winter here in Massachusetts. There was no calcium chloride to be found in the state. The seller sent it very quickly and, as a result, I was able stave off ice dam buildup and water damage. Thank you so much. It was exactly what I needed at the moment when I needed it.
