Bergs Aluminium Shopping Trolley with Seat (Grey)

I broke my hip back in November 2018 and have had two operations since, the latter being a full hip replacement. I found carrying bottles of water from the supermarket back home, near impossible and so decided to invest in a shopping cart. After careful consideration, I chose this one. I can say it's one of the best things I've ever bought! Okay, I haven't used it for very long - nearly three months, but I take it on a journey along bump pavements for 6 minutes each way to the supermarket. It then spends half an hour there, where I buy 2, 5 litre flagons of water, along with other shopping. All of it fits easily into the bag, which is cavernous. It wheels beautifully, both empty and loaded and heavy loads are not an issue. It really has transformed my shopping experience, from painful and unbearable, to enjoyable and stress free. On receiving the cart, you need to fit the wheels to the axle, which is easy. You also have to secure the bag to the frame, using the velcro flaps and tabs - this is reasonably easy to achieve, although, some finger strength is need to stretch the velcro to the correct position. The cart bag has a double clip top cover, that has bi-sided, push release clips, which are easy to use. There are three zipped pockets... One on the front of the bag, one on the top cover and one on the back of the bag behind the fold down seat. The pocket on the front of the bag is insulated for cold food storage. The pocket behind the seat, is useful for wallets / purses. The main bag also has a draw string inner top cover to secure the load further, under the main cover. The whole unit is easily cleaned - I've been using antibacterial surface wipes, which work well on fabric and the hard surfaces, such as the handle, clips and wheels. The wheels are a doddle to clean. The wheels appear to be of a durable, slightly rubberised polypropylene material and are standing up to pavement / road usage. The main drag handle has a durable foam overlay, for comfortable towing. Tip: tow using one side of the handle, to avoid the wheels hitting your heels. The fold down seat is amazing. I'm 92kgs 14½ stone) and it is reassuringly firm and sturdy to sit on. The seat is very easy to fold down and up, at the same time, it stays firmly in whatever position you put it in. Yes, it's a higher price tag than most, but you pay for what you get. Altogether, an excellent bit of kit, that I wouldn't hesitate to recommend AND it's made in the UK!! It's really transformed my shopping experience. I should add, I don't review everything I buy - I don't have the time, but items that stand out, either positively or negatively, usually get reviewed. I do not take bribes from suppliers or manufacturers and all my reviews are totally honest, straightforward and as detailed as is possible. I'm happy to answer any questions.

These are wonderful trolleys because the seat is very solid - you could sit on it comfortably for quite some time. It also has a large shopping bag with an internal clip which would make it hard for pickpockets to access the content. It is easy to maneuver and quite sturdy. The only downside is that it is quite heavy for an elderly person to operate independently. Take it anywhere where you might have difficulty finding a seat and you don't want to stand for hours. Take it on a train, or somewhere like the park for a picnic, to watch sport or to paint landscapes on your own chair with the art supplies in the back etc. It offers much more options than a standard shopping trolley.

To be fair, this trolley with seat was a game-changer for my mobility problem, as i need to rest frequently when J'm out and about. I wasn't expecting it to be so big, though - you could fit a small child in it! (Not that I would). It's pretty sturdy and the folding seat is excellent. I particularly liked the insulated pouch for keeping your food cool -but it could have been bigger as theres a lot of space to play with. However, due to it's size it has a tendency to topple backwards if you don't keep an eye on it. Some kind of brake mechanism for the wheels would be nice. Also, I'd like an option for a smaller bag as it was a bit of a nightmare stowing it somewhere during a recent train journey. It had to go in the wheelchair space. It's also quite tall. Other than that, it's great.

Excellent trolley, ideal for when you need to sit for a while. Very sturdy, nice quality bag, wish the handle was slightly higher, hope I can get a replacement bag when needed. I am very impressed with the quality, I think it should last quite a while.

A really good, sturdy and incredibly usefull shopper with firm seat. Neat stack away seat with secure velcro belt. Plenty of storage pockets. A firm and secure grip handle to push/pull. Stands on its own when folded up. Makes one feel very secure and looked after! I was moving items lower down on shelves and found popping out the seat a most comfortable way to do the job. An excellent purchase, thoroughly recommend.

Bought for my mother who needs to sit down while out and about whilst it is a quality product it is too heavy for her to use even empty. I even find it heavy after a short while of pulling it. So can't recommend unless your strong and can carry weights.

So light weight and easy to use , I’m on the larger side and was worried about the seat but it’s very sturdy. Took this out to a dog show and was so handy esp on grass. Deff worth a go if you have mobility issues and need to sit often 👌
