Can it be use on a two zone system?

Yes. This thermostat can operate one zone in a two zone system. You would also need a Honeywell zone control panel (I would recommend the HZ311K kit that includes discharge air sensor and 24v transformer), thermostat for second zone, and zone dampers to shut off zones not calling for heating or air conditioning.

Is there an external power supply?

D. Mei's answer is correct. I have mine working with an external (plug-in) power supply. I bought an item on Amazon called a 24 volt transformer (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004VMVDTA/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1) and took a wire off another old transformer (from an old wireless router - just one I had laying around but no longer needed) - stripped the ends of the wires - fed one end into the t-state and connected the other end to the 24v adaater. It was pretty simple and has been working for 6 months now. I came back to buy another for our separate in law suite. Note: in some states there are rebate programs. I got $100 from the state of GA for installing this $200 unit. I love the thing.

Does it learn your manual temperature adjustments like the Nest does?

I agree with likalarry, in that we don't want our RTH9580WF "learning" our manual adjustments. I installed our thermostat and set up the schedule about a month ago (my husband can't be bothered with it), but I often make temporary manual adjustments that fluctuate due to our up & down summer weather in So. Calif. I'm ok with this thermostat remembering how long it takes to reach a certain temp, I'm just glad it doesn't try to remember the random temporary settings. I don't see why it would need to anyway.

auto switch from heat to cool

Yes, you can. There are 4 tabs along the top of the screen. Under the System tab, your options are: Heat; Cool; Off. Unfortunately, the auto changeover capability is not controlled here. Rather, you have to go to the Menu tab and drill way down, as follows: Menu/Preferences/Advanced Preferences/Heating and Cooling System Changeover. When you get to this screen, your options are: Manual; Automatic. This is where you control the auto changeover between heat and cool. My guess is that Honeywell has buried this capability so deep that many owners have not found it. My recommendation to Honeywell would be to put a checkbox right in the System tab to allow auto changeover or not, at the owner's discretion.
