Works like it should.
Mag Lock works like it should. These are great items when doing security installs or upgrades.

Great product!
Easy, straightforward install. All of the mounting hardware is included, be sure you have a hammer for installing the guide pins in the plate that goes on the door. Excellent holding force as well. A much easier solution than electric strikes for access control systems!

Nice lock
Great lock for the price. Not easy to install if your not familiar with them but I’ve installed many and this works good.

Holds solid, no problems
Currently using this as part of a little project to make a timed lock using an Arduino. The magnet is running off a 12v 2A power supply controlled by a TIP122 on the negative side. It holds solidly, definitely can't pry it apart with my hands. I may not have tested it with a winch and a force gauge, but I'm convinced you couldn't get the plate off without using some tools. I was concerned you might be able to slide the plate off laterally, but the plate won't budge once the unit is on, so that's a plus if you're using this for unintended solutions not involving a door. There is a little residual magnetism left over after the unit disengages, but that's normal and it's not strong.I tested it over one hour powered on. The unit got a little warm but not hot, and stayed under 100 degrees. If you had this hooked up to a door, or some other large object which would act as a heatsink, I don't think you'd have a problem with it getting too hot and burning anything up, and you shouldn't have any problem even if it isn't attached to something large.Overall I think this was a good buy.

Superb door lock!
The lock itself is GREAT... we use it on our double storm doors to our Glass Shop. That being said, be aware that the manufacturer sort of "forgets" to tell you what else is need to set it up... like a POWER SOURCE & the one we finally found recommended has to be adapted to use it for this lock. Secondly, if you don't want to be constantly plugging & unplugging it, you will need a "switch".... & not the one shown that says "OPEN" which will only work the brief time you are touching it. We finally put an in line toggle switch at a comfortable height & now WE LOVE IT! We turn it on at night & off during the day.... Note, the power source will need the "plug end" removed, determine the polarity & solder the wires into the locking mechanism.

Weakest link. Beware
This is an interesting magnetic lock. It absolutely works and the magnet holds very strong. Unfortunately, a chain is only as strong as it's weakest link. In this magnets case, the weakest link is the two tiny 6-32 screws that hold the magnet to the base plate.I was really shocked at how small and flimsy the two mounting screws are. They will be the first to shear off when someone tries to force open the door. So in reality we actually have a lock that will fail with only 40 or 50lbs of force. Not 600 lbs.Yes, the magnet probably has 600 lbs of holding force but the two little screws that hold the magnet to the door frame will quickly fail.In closing, I find it hard to believe that the manufacturer provides 8 large holes and screws to attach the base plate to the door frame but then only uses two tiny screws to attach the magnet to the base plate.Ridiculous.To improve the strength of this magnet design I added an aluminum plate then drilled and tapped it into the side of the manger to prevent to two mounting screws from failing. Thus is obviously something that most people cannot do. So be careful before you purchase thus magnet. It's a false sense of security. It will fail under extreme stress.Hope this helps. :-)

Secondary lock works really well
Wired this mag loc into system because wood door was a little weak at bottom. Installation was a snap and smaller profile of 600 lb unit made it less obtrusive.
