It works on fine Asian hair!
I’m half Japanese so my hair is naturally straight and fine. I included a picture of before what my hair looks like air dried and one after using the Little Tease Crimper. It was amazing. I didn’t curl my hair or do any other styling, no products or other styling tools just the crimper. As you can see the volume of my hair looks like it doubled. I did the research first and learned how to use it watching YouTube tutorials. I sectioned off the top part of my hair that would cover the crimped part and started just above my ears doing small layers of crimps. I crimped 2 times on each section of hair. I only needed to hold it on my hair for about 4 counts at the hottest heat. I think I could have done less but I wanted to make sure it took and I needed to make sure I pressed the crimper down firmly. I love the feel of the crimped section it has a lot of life and body without being crazy or frizzy. Great tool and worth the money.

Great tool for adding volume at the roots!
This tool is a miracle worker for flat hair! Better than dry shampoo, mousse, and back-combing. This does have settings but even the low setting get quite hot, so I only hold on the hair for about 2 seconds. I only crimp right along the root, with two widths of the crimper on the bottom sections, and in the middle section just once. This way you won't see the crimps once your is down. The crimps last until you wash your hair. Great product!

Don't Buy the Expensive Brand
I have coarse Asian hair that is naturally a touch wavy. The longer it gets, the flatter it looks. My hair holds a curl and has some texture due to a balayage, but giiiiirl, I need volume! I tried the Voloom iron for a little bit, but couldn't bring myself to keep something over $100. I did a quick search on Amazon and found this reasonable crimper. For the price, I gave it a try and was pleasantly surprised. It didn't give me voluminous hair circa 1980's, but it gave me something I was happy with. It's not a wide crimper so it may take a little time with thicker hair. It's worth it though. I usually wash my hair every 3 days and I've been using this crimper on day 1. The volume lasts until I wash my hair. I section my hair and crimp about 4" down, curl with a large barrel iron, then finish with texturizing spray. Hello beachy waves! The best way to use this crimper is to follow Voloom's instructions.

Perfect for lasting volume and not noticable at all for me!
First of all, if you are thinking of buying this crimper, understand it is ONLY meant to be used in such a capacity as to increase hair volume. If used to try and style your hair into a crimpy style, it will not only take forever to do with this, but also look far too crimped. I have extremely fine, oily hair that is naturally very flat against my head. I've teased my hair for years to try and remedy this, but teasing is time consuming and, because of the texture of my hair, often requires I re-tease later on in the day to maintain volume. When I discovered this product, it was actually through the more expensive version. Being that I've spent so much money in the past on previous hot irons and curling irons and such, and never was that happy, I wasn't willing to go for it again. So I found this much, much more affordable version and couldn't be happier! As many have explained, to use this, first lift up the top layer of hair around your head and clip it up and out of the way. Then simply crimp all the hair below at the roots, which lifts it up. Some people have said that it's difficult to get the hang of using this, since it can be really easy to see where you've crimped your hair if not hidden well by the top layers. However, I didn't find this to be the case with me. Maybe it's because I have lighter hair or just because the texture of my hair is different, but I was even able to go so far as to crimp some of the top layers of my hair without it really being detectable! I have found that this method of increasing volume lasts longer than teasing and can even last into the following day if you decide not to shower. Just can't get over this handy tool! The first photo of me is right after I showered, blow-dried, and straightened my hair. The second is after using this Little Tease Crimper. The third is my final styled look, where I spent a quick and easy 15 seconds teasing my hair and then followed it up with a little spritz of hairspray.

Love it
Could’ve used this in my life sooner. Great for adding volume to base of hair if you got floppy flat hair like me.

A Bit Awkward
The Little Tease crimper does what it should, but a few issues make it a bit awkward. First, it's unexpectedly heavy, but one grows accustomed to that. Second, there is no catch or slider to lock the plates closed, so the plates remain in the open position, taking up unnecessary room. Last, the temperature slider is right under user's hand and, since its detents are so tiny and close together, the heat is easily and accidentally raised or lowered. Still, for the price, this little crimper will do the job as promised, though I will be looking for another economical model that is more user friendly.

Simple Hair Volume Hack that WORKS!
I was skeptical about using a crimper for hair volume. I’m so glad to be wrong! I have very fine, straight hair. I’ve tried every product I can think of. In general, I try to minimize the number of chemicals I use in products. My hair is so limp, I probably would’ve used anything to give it volume. I started using Bumble and Bumble Thickening Full Form Mousse the same time that I started with the Little Tease. After washing my hair, I add the mousse to my damp hair. After I dry my hair, it kind of has the texture of hair that’s been sprayed with hairspray then brushed through, so it gives me a little bit of stiffness that I think works really well with the crimping, without making me look like I have huge hair. I don’t find it sticky at all, and I think it works really well with the crimper. (Photos show before using the Little Tease and after. I had already dried my hair with the BB Mousse in the first pic. Third pic shows how I crimp it.) In the after pic, I’ve also flat-ironed the ends of my hair. The Bed Head Little Tease is so easy to use! I use alligator clips to hold back the top layer of hair and crimp 2 to 3 layers underneath on both sides of my part. I don’t do this under the hair on the very front of my head, because it would show around my face. It takes less than five minutes to do this. I actually like my hair now! It was damp this morning and I went out in it without an umbrella. My hair had no idea 😊. It didn’t get frizzy or a limp. I think the combination of the product with the crimping helped with humidity as well. For the price that you would spend on one salon quality volumizing product, the little tease is so worth buying if your hair is fine and limp like mine. Some people complained about the plates not fitting together well. I find if I clamp the crimper closed with my other hand, the plates do seem to kind of shift until they come together, but I don’t know why that’s big deal. It doesn’t affect the machine working at all. I’m glad I didn’t spend a bunch money on the other hair crimper that is supposed to be for volume. This works great for 20 bucks!

Better than the Voloom
For reference I have very long fine hair. The older I get the less hair I seem to have and because of that I have no volume in my hair especially at the root. I have products I use to help thicken/volumize my hair, but none of those (despite the claims and the 100+ products I’ve tried) add very much volume to my roots. I purchased the Voloom a year or so ago and it does work and l use it often, but I wasn’t fully satisfied. I started researching similar products and found a few. I decided on this one because I have other hair tools by this brand. I like this one so much better. For some reason I can get the “crimp” closer to the root of my hair and it looks better. The plates are different between the two products, but the overall volumizing effect is the same. My recommendation is that instead of spending $140 on the Voloom, save $100 and buy this instead. This one does not have heat settings, it only does low, medium, and high and I find that makes no difference. I used medium, but could probably use low. The Voloom locks closed which is a nice feature for storage, but not a deal breaker. I have a foldable hot tool holder. I know I’m going to be reaching for this hot tool and not the Voloom.
