5225XT is the Best VHF Antenna for the Money
This antenna replaces another which suffered an unfortunate accident (not the antenna's fault). This provides great reception and transmission, and is very sturdy. I trailer my boat, and never had an issue when properly stowed. The antenna has a superior coating which will not get chalky or splinter like previous antennas I've had. This antenna comes with a new upgrade...a solderless end connector. I highly recommend this antenna to my friends.By the way, Amazon delivery was within 2 days. Very nice.

Best VHF antenna for the money
First off, I would never use any VHF antenna less than a Shakespeare Galaxy antenna. When you’re offshore, your life may depend on your ability to communicate, and the Galaxy line of antennas are very high quality. What’s new in their antenna is a pre- soldered connector, small enough to rout through small holes. The terminal end simply screws on the pre-soldered end, then screws on the back of a radio. Every tech knows that how the end is attached to the coax cable determines the effectiveness of the antenna, and Shakespeare has eliminated the tricky part of making that connection.My antenna was shipped promptly and packaged properly. I highly recommend this product.

Great antenna for the money
Comes with multiple connectors for installation. I have a short run on my boat, so did not need 20' of cable bunched up. Used solder on connector. Wish it came with the Shakespeare screw together connector. Overall nice functioning and looking antenna.

great upgrade for my boat. 6db provides the perfect gain for my boat. Do you homework, not all antennas are created equal and db gain is critical. This Shakespeare antenna is made very well with brass and copper elements. If you look around, you find another 8' Shakespeare antenna at less than half the price of this one. There's a reason for that and the reason is a big step up in quality components. A high quality antenna is needed on every boat. You never know if your life might depend upon someone hearing you in an emergency situation.
