Works!
Great price and it works. Tested 5 types of water. All had different reading. Also bought test strips. TDS reading is what you need to test drinking water.

Does what it says.
I bought this along with hardness strips and have been on a learning curve about TDS. It came in handy when the water line broke for the neighborhood and the boil water advisory was lifted. The reading was still over 500 ppm so we continued to use bottled water. This works as advertised but documentation is limited, thus the 4 star rating. But I went online and found what I needed with minimal fuss. My guess is the limited information is more for legal purposes.

Appears accurate and really handy to have!
So this little baby let us know that the new home we bought has a refrigerator with the water dispenser/ice cube maker hooked up to a water source that comes from the softener! Seriously. What contractor does that? The prior occupant was an older lady who probably has sky high blood pressure drinking softened/salted cold water and ice cubes from the frig. That is so sad. The frig filter cannot filter out all the salt. It tested around 750 ppm. 200 less than outdoor faucet water. If it had non siftened water and a new frig water filter it should have tested under 100.Unfiltered tap water from the kitchen sink that isn't hooked up to a softened water source tested at 750 ppm. Water from the sink side reverse osmosis tested at 50 ppm. Distilled water (just for fun to see if the unit is anywhere close to accurate) was zero. Yay!The case is handy and it will ensure the cap for the unit won't get lost. The digital readout could be a bit clearer to read, but no real complaint enough to take away a star. The unit clearly warns that it is not water proof and to only submerge it up to 2 inches. We use the cap to hold the water for testing and then that ensures the unit won't get damaged.

Easy to use. Is it accurate?
I would need another 100% accurate method of testing to have a baseline know how accurate this device is. So, asking people to rate this device’s accuracy is somewhat pointless (unless of course they have expert knowledge regarding water, which i do not). Maybe find a review by a water expert to know this device’s accuracy. My main purpose of purchasing this device was to find out if (and how well) my water filtration system was/is working. I’m satisfied with the results. But I’m also blindly assuming this device is mostly accurate.Assuming it’s accurate, great value for the price.

Seems to measure OK +/- a few percent. Repeated readings are not spot on--but good enough (plus-minus up to 5 units with average reading of 200; I do not really need super precision). Temperature measurement does NOT work, which was disappointing. Served purpose of measuring my tap water at ~200 vs purified commercial water (RO) at 003 units. My water filtration cartridges did nothing to reduce dissolved solid, I found out. Will be buying something better soon to purify for my espresso maker to avoid descaling. Reason for 3-stars is due to temperature probe not functional.

Very High Quality Test Meter
I have used this test meter for many years and it is still working well. It is well made and when comparing it to other ppm meters it seems very accurate. All the ispring products I have used are outstanding quality. If you ever do have a question about installation or an issue with any product you purchased from them they are there to help! There costumer service is the best I have ever seen! Sean has helped me trouble shoot and also offered quick and easy assistance with parts and filters even when my system was no longer in warranty. You will not find a better customer service department anywhere!!

This worked great with our water well testing.

Disappointing.
This iSpring TDS3 TDS Meter is worthless. I tested the water from my fridge water supply before adding a new filter a total of 5 times, for an average of 130 PPM. I knew the old filter was long past needing replacing as I had installed it new in September 2010. So this morning I replaced the old filter with a filter that is supposed to filter out even a higher level of degree contaminants than the old filter. Both filters are Whirlpool PUR high end filters not the cheap knocks offs that don't work. For those interested the old filter part number is 4396508 the new filter number is 4396510. The difference in the 08 and the 10 is as I mentioned the 10 filters out higher contaminants, in other words it's a premium filter. The brand new 4396510 after running 3 gals of water thought it till the water ran clear as the instructions said to do reads from the TDS Meter from an average of 5 different reads 135, that's 5 PPM higher than the old worn out water filter.According to the iSpring TDS Meter I can go back and install my old filter since it's working way better than the new filter I paid a lot of money for. I also tested the tap water right out of the tap from my kitchen sink, the tap water is so nasty you can actually see things floating around in it with the naked eye and it read 137 PPM. Needless to say this iSpring TDS3 TDS Meter will be going back as it's a dud.
